Mackerel is one of those rare types of fish that require virtually no cleaning . Instead of scales, mackerel has a thin skin, which, when cooked, becomes soft and completely edible. There are no small bones in this fish, but large ones can be removed very easily. Just recently we cooked mackerel baked in the oven with potatoes.
