In this article we bring to your attention a recipe for an amazing creamy soup made from frozen green peas with cream, which, thanks to a few chef’s tricks, will undoubtedly become the highlight of any feast.
Green pea soup - general principles of preparation
Green pea soup is a very satisfying, nutritious and healthy first course. It is green peas that give it a delicate rich taste. Even the most ordinary chicken soup can be made spicy and very tasty. Soup with green peas is prepared in chicken, pork, beef, fish or vegetable broth. You can also cook the dish in water, and to prevent the dish from turning out bland, you can dilute a couple of bouillon cubes in boiling water.
To prepare the soup, you can use a variety of vegetables: potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, onions, celery, spinach, zucchini, garlic, cauliflower, etc. Green peas go well with mushrooms, seafood, boiled eggs, corn and canned white or red beans. By the way, to prepare soup you can use not only frozen green peas, but also canned ones. This reduces cooking time significantly. The dish is served hot or warm with chopped herbs (dill, parsley, cilantro, basil, etc.), grated cheese, crackers or croutons. Green pea soup can have a regular liquid consistency or be prepared as a creamy puree soup.
Green pea soup - preparing food and dishes
Preparing food is not particularly difficult: all vegetables need to be thoroughly washed and chopped, this also applies to mushrooms and herbs. Frozen green peas and corn do not require pre-thawing - they can be immediately placed in boiling water. You should take care in advance to prepare meat, mushroom, fish or vegetable broth. You need to drain excess liquid from canned foods (beans, mushrooms, peas or corn - if using them) in a colander.
To prepare the dish you will need a large saucepan (preferably with a thick bottom), a frying pan, a colander, a knife, a cutting board, a grater, a can opener and other kitchen utensils. You can serve soup with green peas in ordinary deep plates, and cream soup can be served in deep bowls or bowls.
Green pea soup recipes:
Recipe 1: Green Pea Soup
This green pea soup is a universal first course for every day. The soup is prepared very easily and quickly from the most affordable products. The dish includes chicken, potatoes and green peas.
- Chicken fillet – 2 pieces;
- Green peas – 400 g;
- Potatoes – 4 pcs.;

Adviсe
- Green peas, like most green foods, tend to darken when cooked. To keep the pea color bright and summery, add a pinch of sugar to the soup.
- Peas cannot be cooked for a long time, otherwise they may turn into “porridge”. A factory-frozen bean product takes no more than 7 minutes to prepare. If you use freezing from your garden, the time will double. The fact is that in factories the peas are already lightly cooked and only then frozen.
- You can add color to green pea soup by adding bell pepper. It is best to take the multi-colored “feathers” of this vegetable. Then the soup will shimmer with almost all the colors of the rainbow.
- If you add bell pepper to the soup, try also “sprinkling” the broth with ground sweet paprika. The taste of such a secret ingredient will become even more intense.
- You can get a thick soup if you add zucchini to the traditional ingredients. This vegetable will break down as it cooks and give the dish a more tender texture.
Green pea soup can be prepared using completely different broths. It can be chicken broth, broth made from vegetables, meat, mushrooms, fish.
This soup goes well with various carbohydrate “additives”. It is good to use buckwheat, rice, and pasta in this dish.
To make the taste of green pea soup more velvety, add a little milk, or even better, cream. By the way, creamy green pea soup can also be prepared in the form of cream soup. To do this, just boil the broth, peas, potatoes and beat with a blender. You can decorate the dish with herbs and “feathers” of bell pepper.
You can also make pea soup with smoked meats, traditional for Russian culture, from green peas. To do this, instead of dried split peas, you need to use frozen peas.

Pea soup with canned peas
Yesterday I made pea soup, and not plain soup, but with canned peas. I’ve never cooked this before, I just thought, what if I made pea soup and used canned peas instead of regular peas. That’s what I did, went to the store, bought all the necessary ingredients and started preparing pea soup.
The soup turned out very tasty and today I’ll tell you how I prepared it.
Cut the meat into cubes, I had goose in the refrigerator, so I used goose meat. You can use what you have - pork, veal, rabbit, chicken, etc.
Pour water into a pan, pour the meat into it and put it on the stove. While the water is boiling, you can start preparing the remaining ingredients.
Peel and wash potatoes, carrots and onions. Cut the potatoes and onions into cubes, grate the carrots.
When the water boils, you can let the meat cook for 5-10 minutes and add the prepared vegetables. I added the vegetables immediately after the water boiled, since the meat I had was from a young goose, so it cooks faster.
Cook the soup until all the ingredients are ready (about 40 minutes), then add the peas (after draining the water), 2 eggs (previously beaten in a bowl), herbs, salt and pepper. Bring the soup to a boil, let it cook for another 2-3 minutes and then remove from the stove.
Ingredients:
Canned peas – 1 can (400 g),
Potatoes – 5 pcs.
Salt, pepper, herbs.
This soup is prepared much faster than from ordinary peas, since it does not need to be filled with water, wait until the peas swell, or until they cook, and it cooks for quite a long time. Of course, the taste turns out completely different, but you can definitely try making pea soup with canned peas, and I think you will definitely like it.
And finally, information for those who are constantly thinking about how to lose weight.

- We start with the broth. Fill the chicken meat with water and place it on the stove. When the foam appears, remove it using a slotted spoon or a regular spoon. And after 5 minutes after this, we throw potatoes cut in half and fresh peas into the water, which must first be freed from the pods.
After 10 minutes, add thin slices of bell pepper and tomatoes to the soup - they must be peeled and cut into cubes. To make preparing tomatoes easier, scald them with boiling water and then immediately plunge them into cold water. Along with these vegetables you should add a pod of hot pepper.
Once it boils, add the pasta. All you have to do is wait about a quarter of an hour, and the soup will be ready. At the end, the chicken can be removed, separated from the bone and disassembled into portions.
When serving, mash the potatoes directly in the plate and garnish the dish with fresh herbs.
