How to stew potatoes with smoked ribs in a saucepan

Today I would like to offer a simple and at the same time universal dish. It doesn’t take much time to prepare it, but both the meat and the side dish come out right away.

It takes me about 15 minutes to prepare the food, fry the ribs, then the onions and potatoes - another 15-20 minutes, and it takes 40-60 minutes to simmer the dish. In total we will spend a maximum of 1 hour 35 minutes.

The specified amount of ingredients yields approximately 6 servings of the finished dish.

Appetizing smoked ribs stewed with potatoes

Every real housewife has in her arsenal several recipes for delicious dishes that are her signature. One of the most common and varied in preparation is stewed potatoes with smoked ribs. This is a delicious, hearty dish that won’t take much effort or time in the kitchen.

Stewed potatoes with smoked ribs is a tasty and satisfying dish

Stewed potatoes with smoked ribs recipe step by step with photos

Let's prepare the ingredients we need to prepare this dish. I use a ready-made pepper mixture, but just ground paprika, black or red pepper will work just fine. You can also add a couple of bay leaves when stewing (I do without them).

Cut the smoked ribs into portions so that each part contains a rib and meat. There is no need to remove the bones; without them you won’t get such a delicious gravy.

Let's prepare the onion. We clean it and cut it into small slices.

Fry the onion in the oil remaining from the ribs until golden brown.

Let's start with potatoes. Wash thoroughly, peel and cut into medium-sized slices.

If you chop the potatoes coarsely, the dish will take longer to cook; if you chop them finely, you will reduce the cooking time accordingly.

Place the potatoes and onions in a frying pan and fry a little. At the end of frying, add a mixture of peppers and mix well.

Let's send the resulting mixture to the pan in which we will simmer the dish.

Dissolve tomato paste in water and pour in our ingredients. Add salt to taste. Place on the stove and leave to simmer until cooked (about 40-60 minutes, until the potatoes are soft).

Remove the finished dish from the heat and leave to brew a little under the lid.

It will be even tastier if you let the dish cool on its own and reheat it before serving.

Friends, hello everyone! Today's topic is about stewed potatoes with ribs. In our country it is most often pork, but you can also cook it from beef, lamb and even smoked. The latter will add a slight smoky presence, as if you were cooking outside over a fire. If you use beef, then more time will be spent on cooking. If there are no ribs at all, then this recipe allows you to cook with regular meat.

Pidbyvani krumpli with smoked ribs

Preparation time: 10 min.

Cooking time: 40 min.

Ingredients

Pidbyvani krumpli (white soup)

This Transcarpathian sour cream soup (also sometimes called “white soup”) of Hungarian origin does not belong to gourmet cuisine. It is simple in a rustic way - probably the simplest of all the “pidbyvanih” soups that the Transcarpathian cuisine is rich in.

Historically, it was prepared with sour milk, since “the sour cream was before the hit or the teacher took it.” Despite its unprepossessing simplicity, this soup is one of the favorite Transcarpathian soups. Every Transcarpathian usually tastes it from childhood, from his mother’s or grandmother’s kitchen.

Since we don’t share sour cream with anyone, I suggest preparing a richer version of this soup, with the addition of smoked ribs and sour cream.

How to cook “Pidbyvani krumpli with smoked ribs” step by step with photos at home

To prepare Transcarpathian potato soup we will need potatoes, smoked ribs, sour cream, onions, salt, flour, sweet paprika, sunflower oil and parsley.

Wash the ribs thoroughly, cut into pieces and place in a pan of water. Cook over low heat for about 20 minutes.

Peel the potatoes and cut into medium-sized cubes. Rinse it well to remove excess starch and fill it with cold water.

Add potatoes to the ribs, salt to taste and cook for 20 minutes. Don’t forget that the smoked meats are salty; don’t over-salt the soup.

Finely chop the onion and fry in oil. I grate the onion on a coarse grater, since children do not like pieces of onion floating in the soup.

Add flour and fry for just a few seconds over low heat. In Transcarpathia we call it rantash.

Add paprika, stir. Be very careful not to burn the paprika.

Immediately pour in sour cream mixed with 500 ml of cold water, stir thoroughly with a whisk.

Pour the sour cream dressing into the soup with potatoes and ribs. Boil.

Season with chopped parsley. The yield of soup is about 3.5-4 liters.

Recipe for stewed potatoes with pork ribs

We will cook in a cast iron cauldron, but if you don’t have one, then use a regular saucepan with a thick bottom or a deep frying pan. There are also recipes where potatoes are baked together with ribs in the oven. This option is even simpler, but then you won’t get the signature broth. And it seems to me that in different dishes, the dish tastes different.

For this recipe for stewed potatoes with ribs we will need:

Step 1. First of all, heat the vegetable oil in a cauldron.

Step 2. We will fry the ribs first. But since we washed them under water, we first need to dry them with paper towels. And in order not to turn frying into stewing, that is, not to reduce the temperature of the oil, you need to add it in parts.

Fry over maximum heat, stirring occasionally. The ribs should be golden. This process may take up to 10-15 minutes.

Step 3. While the ribs are roasting, chop the onions and carrots. There is no need to chop the onion, cut the onion into half rings, and the carrots can be cut into cubes by hand or grated on a coarse grater.

Step 4. As soon as the ribs acquire a golden and light crust, add onions to them.

If something burns to the walls of the dish, for example pieces of onion or meat, then it’s not a big deal. Next, when we add water, it will dissolve everything and the broth will turn out especially tasty and rich.

Step 5. Fry and stir all the time. You need to soften the onion, it will begin to release juice, which the ribs will absorb. Only then do we send the carrots into the cauldron.

Now is the time to add salt, spices and pepper to taste. Next, when we stew the potatoes, we’ll try it and add more if necessary. Add your favorite spices, today I have khmeli-suneli.

Sometimes at this step, I add a couple more tablespoons of tomato paste. And to balance the final taste of stewed potatoes, I add a teaspoon of sugar.

Step 6. Fry the carrots for about 4 minutes and fill the cauldron with water. In order not to reduce the temperature of the food, I recommend pouring boiling water from a kettle. All foods must be completely covered. Don't worry about too much water, because we'll be adding more potatoes next.

All this time the fire was at maximum, but now it needs to be reduced to medium, maybe even a little lower and simmer the zirvak for about 20-30 minutes.

Step 7. 25 minutes of stewing passed and it was the turn of the potatoes. It needs to be cut quite coarsely, as it must be completely cooked and not fall apart.

Place it in a cauldron and simmer until fully cooked.

Now is the time to taste for salt and spices. For aroma, you can add a few bay leaves. And now...

Stewed potatoes with pork ribs - almost ready!

We check the readiness of the potatoes with a regular knife; if they break easily, then you can remove them from the heat. It takes approximately 15-20 minutes to prepare. Before turning off the heat, sprinkle chopped herbs on top.

If desired, at this stage you can add chopped garlic cloves along with the herbs. But whoever likes it.

Let it sit under the closed lid for 10 minutes and you can pour it into plates.

Stewed potatoes with ribs are ready. I hope my step-by-step recipe will be useful to you. If you still have questions, write in the comments.

A hearty and flavorful dish for the whole family. Thanks to the fat layer, pork ribs dishes always turn out very juicy and flavorful, regardless of the cooking method and accompanying ingredients. By following the recipe, you can easily get a delicious lunch or dinner.

Step-by-step preparation

Step 1:

Prepare the necessary ingredients for the dish. The ribs for this dish are suitable smoked or boiled-smoked. It is advisable to choose ribs that have more meat on the bones.

Step 2:

If you have smoked ribs in one piece, cut them into individual segments. The store often sells already cut ribs and there is practically no meat on them.

Step 3:

Peel the potatoes and cut into large or medium slices. This is necessary so that the potatoes do not boil over during stewing. If the potatoes are small, you can leave them whole. New potatoes are great for this dish; they need to be scraped with a knife to remove the thin outer skin.

Step 4:

Peel the carrots and cut into semicircles. If the young carrots are small in diameter, cut them into medium pieces so that they do not boil over during stewing.

Step 5:

Peel the garlic and chop finely.

  • several cloves of garlic;
  • fresh tomatoes;

Recipe 5: stewed potatoes with smoked ribs (with photo)

Potatoes with smoked ribs in a slow cooker are an incredibly satisfying and tasty dish with a characteristic aroma. You can also add vegetables to the potatoes - carrots, onions, tomatoes, pickled cucumbers. To make the taste even brighter, add your favorite spices - a mixture of ground peppers, paprika, ground coriander. In order for the potatoes to turn out exactly stewed, you need to pour a little water into the multicooker bowl - a spoonful of tomato paste will not be superfluous either.

Prepare the ingredients you need - they're simple and you'll likely have plenty in your fridge on any given day. Well, except for the smoked ribs, of course. This product can be purchased with more or less meat on the bones - in any case, the potatoes will turn out very flavorful.

Peel the onions, wash and finely chop. Set the “Frying” mode and pour a little refined vegetable oil into the bowl. Place the onion in a bowl and stir-fry for 3 minutes.

While the onions are frying, cut the pickled cucumbers into small cubes. The frying mode can be turned off. Place the cucumbers in a bowl.

Peel and wash the potatoes, cut into small cubes. The type of potato in this case does not matter much - in any case, the vegetable will turn out to be very soft.

Divide the ribs; especially large pieces of meat can be cut off and cut into even smaller ones.

Place the potatoes and ribs into the multicooker bowl. Pour in about 150 ml of water, salt and add spices, bay leaf if desired. Mix everything and close the multicooker bowl. Set the “Extinguishing” mode for 40 minutes. After the beep, the dish can be served immediately.

Before serving, add fresh herbs to each serving - you can take parsley, dill, green onions.

Gourmet dinner for the whole family

Potatoes with smoked ribs in the oven will turn out juicy and tender if you cook them in pots. To make the dish sparkle with bright flavors, add your favorite vegetables and spices.

  • 0.8 kg smoked ribs;
  • 5-6 potatoes;
  • onion head;
  • bell pepper;
  • 2 tomatoes;
  • 50 g green beans;
  • vegetable oil;
  • 1 laurel leaf in each pot;
  • ground black pepper and peas;
  • salt.

Preparation:

  • Prepare the potatoes: peel, wash and cut into cubes.
  • Cut the ribs into several parts.
  • Lightly fry the ribs in vegetable oil and then the potatoes.
  • Peel the onion and finely chop it.
  • Cut the bell pepper into strips and the tomatoes into cubes. Let's prepare the green beans.

  • Now let's fill our pots. First, lay out the ribs, and then distribute the ingredients in this way - potatoes, onions, green beans, tomatoes, bay leaves, salt, peppercorns and ground.

  • Add water. We will need approximately 2/3 tbsp. into each pot.
  • Bake the dish in the oven at a temperature threshold of 180 degrees for half an hour. If the vegetables turn out soggy, add a little more time.

Recipe 6: Potatoes with smoked ribs in tomato sauce

Potatoes with ribs in tomato sauce - a hearty second course with a spicy-sweet aftertaste!

Baked potatoes in tomato sauce with smoked pork ribs are a savory and very easy to prepare side dish with a rich flavor. The dish is rich in hints of ripe tomatoes, a spicy note and a sweet nuance. Smoked ribs add an interesting campfire flavor to the side dish. This dish is ideal for home cooking, as well as in a cauldron outdoors.

Chop the washed and peeled potatoes into large cubes.

Place potatoes in a baking dish. Grind the onion into thick half rings.

Place chopped herbs and garlic cloves into a blender.

Pour in the oil, add spices to taste and peeled canned tomatoes. Whisk the mixture into a semi-thick sauce.

Generously pour the dressing over the chopped potatoes and onions. Mix the ingredients and pepper to taste.

Recipe 7: Stewed Potatoes with Smoked Ribs in a Pot

Potatoes prepared according to this recipe are very similar in taste and texture to potatoes cooked in a Russian oven. The dish is very high in calories, very filling and, in my opinion, very tasty. Such potatoes can be served as a separate independent dish, or can also serve as a side dish.

Cut the potatoes into small slices.

Cut the onion into small pieces, carrots into half rings.

Boil the ribs for 30 minutes and add potatoes to them.

Sauté onions and carrots in vegetable oil.

Add sauteed sauce to meat and potatoes. We continue to simmer together. Salt and pepper to taste. At the end of the stew, remove the ribs and separate them individually.
