Garlic, pickled whole heads

What will be needed:

  • garlic - 1.0 kg;
  • filtered water - 600 ml;
  • vinegar - 30 ml;
  • salt - 30 g.

Let's prepare step by step:

  1. To preserve garlic, you need to select strong, dense heads of garlic.
  2. Prepared heads of garlic need to be processed. Remove stem and husk. Then transfer to a bowl and fill with boiled filtered water. Keep in water for half an hour.
  3. Then the steamed garlic should be rinsed with running water.
  4. Boil water in a saucepan. Pour salt into it. Wait until the salt is completely dissolved. Add vinegar to the marinade. Immediately remove from the stove.
  5. Next, move the garlic heads into pre-prepared sterilized jars. Pour the prepared slightly cooled marinade into the jars.
  6. Close the jars with lids. Place in a dark place for two weeks.

  9. At the end of two weeks of marinating, put the workpiece in the cold.

Deep fried cheese balls

A very simple but interesting dish that can be served at a holiday table or as an appetizer for friendly gatherings.

  • 50 g feta cheese;
  • 200 g hard cheese;
  • two eggs;
  • 50 g flour;
  • breadcrumbs;
  • vegetable oil for frying.

  1. Grate the hard cheese on a fine grater, mash the feta with a fork.
  2. Add one raw egg and mix until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Roll 12 balls from the resulting mass, wetting your hands in water.
  4. Beat the egg in a bowl, adding a couple of tablespoons of water. Dip the balls in flour, place in the egg, then roll in breadcrumbs. Thanks to the breading, the cheese will not leak out during frying.
  5. Place the breaded balls on a plate and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up the crust.
  6. Pour vegetable oil into a saucepan, heat, lower the balls for one minute, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel to drain the fat. The balls should float freely, so you need to lower as many at a time as the size of the dish allows.

These cheese balls taste best when they are hot – under the crispy golden crust there is viscous melted cheese. To keep them warm when guests arrive, you can put them in a warm oven.

TOP 7 most valuable medicinal properties of vegetables

Scientists still have not decided to put an end to the study of garlic properties. From year to year, researchers are sure to discover something fundamentally new - something that we did not know about garlic until today. Therefore, we suggest that you make an interim summary and list those properties of the vegetable that have long been proven and are a hypothesis, not a theorem.

  1. Garlic is an active antioxidant. Garlic contains a huge amount of sulfur compounds. Of these, we are most interested in a substance called allicin. This is a powerful antioxidant that, when entering the human body, begins to fight free radicals. Medical scientists have proven that this compound can reduce cellular damage caused by free radicals in the human body by 60%. In addition, allicin increases the body's production of antioxidants by 40%, which are produced inside the human body and do not enter it with food.
  2. Garlic is a regulator of insulin action. In terms of their composition, sulfur compounds, which are found in large quantities in garlic cloves, resemble lipoic acid. Therefore, they, like the substance mentioned above, have the ability to activate insulin. Simply put, they have a positive effect on the depth of penetration of glucose into muscle cells, creating the most favorable conditions for this.
  3. Garlic helps reduce fat tissue. Due to the fact that the substances contained in garlic promote the absorption of insulin into muscle cells, the muscles become more receptive and active. Consequently, the tendency for the formation of muscle tissue begins to increase. And the trend associated with the formation of fat, on the contrary, begins to decline.
  4. Garlic prevents the development of atherosclerosis. Let's return to allicin, which we have already discussed above. This substance, present in garlic, performs many vital functions for health. The result of these functions is the effective prevention of the development of atherosclerosis, as well as such deadly conditions as heart attack and stroke. The following are the actions of allicin in question:
  5. removes dangerous cholesterol from the body;
  6. helps reduce pressure in the arteries;
  7. slows down platelet aggregation;
  8. makes it impossible to oxidize fats, which is extremely dangerous to health.
  9. Garlic has an antibacterial effect. After the aromatic vegetable enters the human body, it immediately begins to eliminate microorganisms that pose a potential danger to humans. The vegetable has the maximum antibacterial effect on the respiratory system, oral cavity, and urinary tract. Garlic acts so aggressively that even parasites that live in the human gastrointestinal tract cannot resist it. Scientists have an assumption that allicin has a negative effect even on the bacterium Helicobacter Pylori, which provokes the development of gastritis. Among other things, the vegetable is an effective anti-flu and antiviral agent.
  10. Garlic facilitates the digestive process. How? It’s very simple: eating vegetables stimulates additional formation of bile, as well as the production of enzymes responsible for the digestive process. Thanks to this vegetable, food is better absorbed and appetite increases.
  11. Garlic supports the liver. The vegetable contains many amino acids, including cystine and cysteine, which are important for the liver. These substances protect the liver from diseases that often attack it, and also allow the organ to function smoothly, effectively performing its task.

Garlic can destroy cancer cells. The vegetable is an immune stimulant, so doctors recommend especially relying on garlic during the cold season and off-season, when viral diseases attack people especially actively.

In addition, as we have already mentioned above, garlic has a positive effect on the prostate gland, which for many men becomes an Achilles heel with age. We cannot remain silent about the positive effect of garlic on the organs of the respiratory system: those who eat the vegetable breathe easier - in the literal sense of the word.

After eating garlic, an extremely unpleasant odor appears in the mouth. The culprit is sulfur compounds and allicin. To get rid of the “aroma,” you need to either eat a couple of stalks of parsley, or wash down a dish with garlic with milk or sour milk, or drink a little dry red wine with honey and cinnamon.
