Lard - what is it, beneficial properties and harms, use in cooking and how to make it at home

Hi all! Today I have a very interesting topic - I decided to share with you recipes on how to make lard. Some people most likely don’t even know this word. But I have known it since childhood, since both my grandmother and mother always stocked up on this product.

What is lard? In essence, it is processed lard, cold or hot. In the first case, it is made from fresh or salted lard, minced in a meat grinder with seasonings and garlic. The result is a delicious sandwich mixture that goes very well with rye bread. As an addition, I recommend pickled ginger or pickled garlic.

It’s hard to believe, but this snack is served even in restaurants - on slices of bread. The dish is also made from fried meats (they are also called cracklings). To do this, the fat is rendered, poured into a jar, and what remains is turned into a homogeneous substance. Salt, garlic and favorite seasonings are also added to it. Here we have a completely waste-free production. The cracklings are used for lard, and the rendered fat is used instead of vegetable oil. This, by the way, is much more useful, no matter what the skeptics claim. And, of course, very budget-friendly
