Birthday cake for a boy: interesting ideas for decoration

Cake is the main dish of any children's party. The birthday boy and his guests are looking forward to it, and all parents want to please and pleasantly surprise the child. Choosing the filling is the easiest thing: just know the child’s tastes. Some boys are crazy about biscuits and yoghurt filling, others are crazy about the classic “Rime” or grilled meat.

Birthday cake design requires creativity. The most common option for decorating birthday cakes is with a three-dimensional number corresponding to the boy’s age. You can play with the number in different ways: by surrounding it with edible flowers, fruits and berries, figurines of your favorite fairy-tale heroes or cartoon characters.

Figurines are another popular motif that appeals to boys of all ages. Many parents order cakes with typically “male” cartoon and comic book characters: Spider-Man, Batman, “Cars” characters. But when choosing a design, the main thing is to take into account the child’s tastes, and modern boys are not necessarily keen on superheroes (although they often really are). Many children love new Disney cartoons like “Frozen” or “Moana,” while others are crazy about “Despicable Me.” Pay attention to which cartoons and fairy tales your child likes the most, and order cake decorations with characters from these stories.

As we grow older, fairy-tale heroes fade into the background. Boys are starting to like desserts that reflect their hobbies: sports, photography, video games, engineering and computers. In addition, you can throw a themed party for your child and order a cake in the spirit of the holiday: in the style of sea voyages, Star Wars or other space adventures.

What materials can be used for decoration?

To decorate a cake for a 3-year-old boy (the photo in the article shows different options for decorating the treat) use:

  • Fruit jelly. A plate is made from it according to the shape, which is laid out on the top cake.
  • Meringue. From this material you can create many small “domes” and decorate the top of the cake with them or make a border along the edge of its surface. You can also coat the entire cake with raw meringue, and then put it in the oven for about two minutes.
  • Whipped cream. This product is a classic option for decorating a birthday cake. Using a pastry syringe, you can decorate the cake over its entire area with a thick layer of whipped cream of the desired color in accordance with the design idea.
  • Waffle pictures with photo printing. Any image can be transferred to them. The material allows you to decorate a birthday cake with a portrait of the hero of the occasion or an interesting graphic scene from your favorite cartoon in which the characters congratulate the boy on his birthday.
  • Figures made of marzipan and mastic. This is one of the great options for decorating a holiday dessert. The figures can be made in the form of toys that boys love: an airplane, a robot or a car.
  • Icing (sugar glaze). A sugar syringe is used for painting with this material. This solution is not only elegant, but also very original. This painting can be useful for decorating the entire cake with inscriptions in honor of the little birthday boy or creating a pattern in the form of an intricate web.

Preparation

To create the dessert, ready-made sponge cakes are used, the quantity of which depends on the planned height and shape of the future treat. Sequencing:

  1. Gelatin is diluted in water and allowed to swell. Meanwhile, powdered sugar (400-450 g) is sifted using a fine sieve.
  2. Pour syrup into gelatin and place the solution in a water bath. Simmer in a bathhouse for 10-15 minutes with constant stirring until the gelatin and syrup are completely dissolved.
  3. Then the finished mixture is carefully poured into the powder and immediately begin to mix: first, using a spoon, and then by hand. The finished mastic should have a uniform consistency, be slightly viscous and stick a little to your hands.
  4. Place the mastic in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for half an hour.
  5. Powdered sugar (50-100 g) is mixed with vanillin, then chilled cream is added to the mixture and lightly whisked.
  6. Then continue whipping the cream with sugar, but using a mixer. At the same time, the cream (remaining) is poured into the mixture in a thin stream.
  7. Stop whipping as soon as the cream reaches soft peaks and begins to hold its shape. Now the cream is ready for use.
  8. The finished cakes are coated with prepared cream. Nothing is applied to the top layer.
  9. The mastic is taken out of the refrigerator, any food coloring is added to it and rolled out into a thin layer using a rolling pin.
  10. Before you start covering the cake, you should sprinkle it with water (sweet) on all sides. This is done so that the mastic adheres better.
  11. The fitting begins from the top. The mastic pancake is laid out so that its edges hang as low as possible. The fitting should be done very carefully, helping with your hands and using an iron. You should expel all the air from the surface of the cake and lay the mastic as evenly as possible.
  12. To paint the finished dessert (applying congratulations and corresponding wishes to the birthday boy on its surface), use icing or pastry markers.

Ice cream cake recipe

A very original recipe that will certainly appeal to little ones with a sweet tooth. To create it you will need 5-6 containers, bowls of the same shape, but of different sizes. Let's try to make a unique ice cream cake, for this it is better to select varieties of different shades.

We take a large container shaped like a semicircle and pour melted ice cream of one type into it (a 400–500 g package is suitable). Place a smaller container inside and put it in the freezer for a couple of hours until completely frozen.

Then we take out the container, pour another layer of a different color (300–400 g), then immerse a smaller bowl in it, etc. When the container is completely filled, you can turn it over and remove the main mold. The top of the cake can be decorated with sprinkles or poured over chocolate. When cut, the dessert will look amazing, thanks to the semicircular multi-colored layers.

Recipe for sponge cake with mastic and whipped cream

  • 100 ml corn syrup or liquid honey.

It will take about 180 minutes to prepare. Calorie content of 100 grams of product: 642 kcal.

How to cook a classic sponge cake?

Most often, sponge cakes are prepared at home feasts. To do this, a fluffy cake is made from the dough, which is cut lengthwise, coated with cream, jam and other filling, then infused and served. The most difficult thing is to prepare a tasty and tender sponge cake.

First of all, you will need to separate the whites from the yolks (take 5-6 chicken eggs). Children are often allergic, so it is important to ensure that the cake recipe does not contain ingredients that can cause an allergic reaction in the birthday boy or guests. Chicken eggs are a very common allergen; they can be replaced with quail or duck eggs. Beat the whites in a mixer using a whisk, after adding salt. Beat on medium power until foam appears. Add sugar (100 g), continue beating, increasing power. In a separate container, beat the yolks with sugar (also 100 g). If desired, you can add the zest of half a lemon or orange.

Then place both mixtures in one container, add flour (200–250 g) and mix thoroughly with a spoon until a high-quality, homogeneous dough is obtained. The biscuit is baked for an hour at a temperature of 170°. When it cools down, it is coated with cream or cream. Then put it in the refrigerator for about 6 hours so that the dough is soaked.

You can bake a treat in the form of a racing car, a funny minion, or a ship ready for an intergalactic flight.

A cake for a 3 year old boy can be made with a surprise in the form of a handful of sweets. To do this, when collecting dessert (biscuit) in the lower cakes, somewhere in the center you need to make a small hole and place the candies without wrappers there. You can use sweet chocolate figures or even a gift. Then the niche with the surprise is closed with the top cake, like a lid. A very unusual treat would be a jelly cake. Gelatin is poured with juice or water; after swelling (about an hour), it can be added to preheated berry or fruit syrup.

To prepare one color layer you will need:

  • 1.5-2 tablespoons of gelatin;
  • 2 cups juice (white layers from milk);
  • 2 tbsp. l. lemon juice;
  • sugar, cinnamon to taste.

The mixture must be stirred gently until it turns into a homogeneous mass. Forms of the same diameter are taken and liquid gelatin is poured into them. Afterwards it goes into the refrigerator for several hours. When all the layers have hardened, they are laid out on top of each other, and a layer of sweet cream cheese or whipped cream is made between them.

To form a solid cake, the layers will have to be poured gradually. Take a deep pan, pour green jelly into it, put the pan in the refrigerator to cool. When the liquid hardens, yellow jelly is poured on top. The container is sent back to the refrigerator to cool, and so on, layer by layer. A 10-year-old boy will definitely like this colorful cake and amaze his friends.
