If you don’t have time, but want to pamper your household with delicious pastries, then a jellied pie cooked in a slow cooker will help solve this problem. This dish can be a complete replacement for lunch or dinner, and can also replace dessert.
The main feature of jellied pies is their batter. There is no need to roll it out or form individual pies. This greatly simplifies the cooking process.
Sometimes the base for a jellied pie can have a fairly dense structure, and after the filling a special filling is used (usually a mixture of milk and eggs).
The dough for jellied pies is mixed with yogurt, kefir, sour cream, milk, and mayonnaise. You can use not one, but two or three ingredients. Also included are flour, eggs, soda and vinegar or baking powder, butter or vegetable oil, margarine.
As fillings for such pies, you can use canned fish, boiled eggs with chopped green onions, boiled meat, smoked meats, raw or stewed cabbage, mushrooms, and a mixture of vegetables.
One of the main rules for successful preparation is that the filling must be completely ready for use. Vegetables are stewed, meat, mushrooms and fish are boiled or fried. Canned food, smoked meats and sausage are simply chopped.
How to cook jellied pie in a slow cooker
The jellied pie is cooked in a slow cooker for 30 minutes to an hour. Cooking time depends on the power of the device, the volume of dough and filling, and the depth of the mold.
In a slow cooker, the dough takes much longer to cook, but it bakes very evenly and does not burn.
If the multicooker has a heating element only at the bottom, then the cake must be turned over during cooking. After 40 minutes of baking, the appliance must be turned off and carefully, using a wire rack, carefully turn the product over to the other side. Place the raw side on the bottom into the bowl and continue baking for another 20 minutes.

Jellied pie with cabbage in a slow cooker
This is one of the most budget-friendly options for preparing a dish. Jellied pie with cabbage in a slow cooker turns out nourishing and juicy. This dish can feed a large number of people.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 tbsp. l. kefir, yogurt or sour cream;
- 1.5-2 cups flour;
- 2 eggs;
- 300 g shredded cabbage;
- 1 small onion;
- 2 tbsp. l. ketchup;
- 1 medium carrot;
- salt,
- 1/2 tsp. soda slaked with vinegar;
- vegetable oil for greasing the mold.
{banner_vnutri-kontenta-1}
Cooking method:
- Combine cabbage with carrots, onions and a small amount of oil.
- First, fry the vegetables for 10 minutes, and then add ketchup, turn on the “Stew” mode and continue cooking for another 15 quarter of an hour.
- Remove the filling from the multicooker and cool.
- Sift the flour, add kefir, salt, eggs and stir until a homogeneous thick viscous consistency.
- Pour a little oil into the bottom of the bowl and place half of the dough.
- Spread the filling in an even layer and pour over the second part of the dough.
- It takes 50 minutes to prepare the dish, but it’s better to play it safe and check the degree of readiness.
- If you pierce the pie with a match or skewer and small lumps remain on the surface of the wood, it means the pie is damp and you need to continue baking for 5-10 minutes.
It is better not to use mayonnaise to prepare the dough, since in combination with cabbage you will get a not entirely pleasant sourish taste.
Ready-made jellied cabbage pie, cooked in a slow cooker, served with a light salad or broth. You can also add a small amount of minced meat or mushrooms to the cabbage. This will make the pie more filling.
Tips and tricks for making pie
Such “goodies” are valued for their simplicity. People knowledgeable in the kitchen will confirm that almost anything can be added to the dough. In this list you can see everything - from banal sausages to bananas.
My recipe, which can be found above, is distinguished by its fat content (this is a matter of taste). You can “adjust” it by slightly reducing the amount of sour cream. As an option - jellied pie made with kefir; it will rise perfectly in a slow cooker.
Sifting flour is a little old-fashioned, but also useful. This will make our mixture more airy.
Tastes are different. For example, my friends prefer light pies. For the dough, they use low-fat kefir, and for the “innards” they do not spare vegetables. I will add that for low-calorie baked goods you can use mushrooms, bell peppers, and cabbage. Dietary poultry fillet (chicken or turkey) will perfectly complement this “assortment”.
For those who cannot imagine a table without fruit, such baked goods will be a real godsend. In addition to various “exotic” and native berries as a filling, you can use their pieces as decoration. The same can be said about jams and preserves - you can coat a ready-made pie with them, but it will turn out almost like a cake. This delicious pie is easy to prepare in a slow cooker.
There are also some nuances: if you took margarine, then you shouldn’t add mayonnaise - these components “will not get along,” which will affect the taste.
Pies have been known in Rus' for a long time. In the books of travelers of the 16th–17th centuries, you can find their descriptions, which are almost similar to current recipes.
Another good thing about jellied pie dough is its flexible “temper” when heated. You don’t need to keep an eye on it, you just have to calculate the timing correctly. At the same time, keep in mind the composition of the filling and the thickness of the prepared layer. Cooking it in the machine will take half an hour to an hour. It was noted that things move faster in the oven, but there is a risk of “burning”, and this is unlikely for a multicooker.
A quick jellied pie can also please seafood lovers. The standard preparation time is 40 minutes (if we take the “full cycle”, then an hour). Throwing a little cheese in there will give you an indescribable taste - when melted, it will complement the taste of the fish fillet. There is also room for experimentation: you can put pieces of different fish. When heated, they get a special flavor. We tried to do this a couple of times, but we are more “meat eaters.”
Another, but more economical version of the pie made from jellied dough is cabbage. Here it is better to do without mayonnaise (in combination with sour leaves it will give a not entirely pleasant taste). There will be more preliminary work - the onions and cabbage will have to not only be chopped, but also fried in sunflower oil. At the same time, they combine the baking and stewing modes (each is set for 10 or 15 minutes, depending on what power you have).
In this case, a head of cabbage with young leaves is selected. They stew quickly and have a delicate taste.
Many students, missing home-cooked meals, also manage to make a delicious pie in a slow cooker. As we already know, no special skills are needed here, and even canned food is suitable as ingredients. Again, this is possible with the right timing. The usual 45-50 minutes is enough. The taste very much depends on the quality of the preservation itself, but I haven’t heard any particular complaints about this method.
As for ingredients like poultry fillets or briskets, they must be prepared even before they turn into the filling for the kefir jellied pie.

Preparing the filling
1. We take chicken breast because it is a very healthy part of the bird, it cooks quickly, it is loved by many, and it is easy to separate from the bones, unlike other parts of this poultry. This is exactly what we will do. It’s much easier to take two pieces of fillet at once and not have to worry about cutting it up. Although this is easy to do. You need to cut the meat down to the bone in the middle. And then select one side and use scraping cuts to cut out the sirloin. Do the same on the second side.
2. When we have removed the bones we do not need, we need to cut the chicken into pieces. It is better to make them in the form of thin oblong strips, which will definitely bake very quickly. And also such strips will marinate quite quickly.
3. You can choose the spices for the marinade yourself, or you can immediately take ready-made chicken seasoning. Curry, paprika, basil, thyme, and regular black pepper are perfect for a separate set. Pour what you want into the bowl with the pieces and mix everything well. Now is the time to put that aside and start testing.

Features of product selection
Everything is simple here: freshness is the most important thing. The onion is taken without any black dots or yellow tips. As for cheese, I choose it according to taste and mood. Both hard and processed varieties are suitable (only without seasonings). In general, the filling can be anything you like. Fish is also suitable, which is also advisable to buy fresh. If it didn’t stay in the refrigerator for long, it’s fine too.
