Step-by-step preparation of meatballs in tomato sauce in a slow cooker

1. Let’s choose the meat for the meatballs and put it through a meat grinder ourselves, or we’ll buy ready-made minced meat at the butcher shop, as we did. We took not very fatty pork. Add an egg, very finely chopped or grated onion, salt and season with spices to taste.

2. Soak a piece of white bread in half a glass of warm water or milk. Let's let the bread soak, and then squeeze it out and send it to the minced meat. In order for it to become homogeneous, adhere well and subsequently the meatballs do not fall apart, beat the minced meat for several minutes: with a little effort, throw it into a bowl or on the surface of a cutting board.

3. Roll meatballs between your palms - balls measuring 3 centimeters in diameter. Roll each one in flour.

4. Place the meatballs in the multicooker bowl, after pouring a little vegetable oil on the bottom. We set the “Frying” program and wait for the meatballs to brown on one side, then turn them over so that they are fried on the other.

5. Dilute tomato paste in a glass of water, add a little salt, add spices for flavor and pour the sauce over the meat balls. Fans of spicy tastes can add a chopped garlic clove or a few pieces of chili to the multicooker bowl.

6. Set the multicooker to “Stew” mode and continue cooking the meatballs for 40 minutes. Stir them two to three times during cooking.

7. Serve the meatballs sprinkled with fresh chopped herbs. We decided to serve mashed potatoes as a side dish.

8. Appetizing and aromatic meatballs in tomato sauce in a slow cooker are ready! Enjoy their delicate taste with the whole family.

Green pea soup with rice and meatballs

Published November 28, 2015 - 10:36 by Tatyana

About five years ago, in Lisa magazine, I came across a recipe for this savory soup of green peas, rice and meatballs. I decided to cook for the sake of variety. But I slightly adjusted the cooking process. We fell in love with the dish from the first spoon. I don’t think that the taste of the soup in my preparation is very different from the original. By the way, the original soup comes with minced pork. I later tried this with chicken. It turned out great too. Different minced meat gives the dish a different flavor. And alternation prevents the soup from becoming boring.

I must say thank you to the cook who first prepared the meatballs. There are many different ways to prepare them: in Italy they are prepared with cheese, with beans in Mexico, in Provence they add apple juice to the sauce, and in Sweden they add cream and nutmeg.

Meatballs are stewed in tomato, sour cream, cream, broth, even wine! Many families often cook them and children love this dish, because it’s so easy to throw a neat round meatball whole into your mouth and then proudly say: “I ate six of them!”

These meat balls go well with any side dish: pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, buckwheat porridge. For housewives, this is an opportunity to feed the family dinner, and if there are meatballs left, put them with pieces of vegetables in lunch boxes the next day for a snack during the lunch break. Meatballs are a wonderful dish that is equally tasty either hot or cold. Cook them with gravy in tomato sauce in a slow cooker, and for a couple of days you will be sure of what to serve for dinner. This method of cooking will also save your time, and the taste of this dish, believe me, will be wonderful.

Meatballs with gravy - tricks and useful tips

  • Meatballs cook very quickly in a slow cooker. They are served as a separate dish (in this case, freshly baked flatbreads can be offered with the meat) or together with a side dish: boiled mashed potatoes, buckwheat, rice, stewed or fresh vegetables.
  • Ready-made meat pieces can be prepared for future use and frozen in the freezer. This will not affect the taste of the dish, but will greatly simplify the meal plan for a large family. The housewife will only have to take the semi-finished product out of the freezer and use it immediately. Fast and tasty!
  • Frozen meatballs do not need to be thawed before putting them into the slow cooker for stewing. However, the cooking time is increased by 10 minutes.

If the meatballs are breaded in flour, they can be laid out in 2-3 layers. Thanks to the breading, the pieces do not stick together. You can bread both fresh and frozen semi-finished products.

Bake with cheese

The next type of treat made from turkey meat does not involve creating soup or broth, but serves as an independent dish.

To make it, you need to stock up:

  • turkey meat – 500 g;
  • hard cheese – 150 g;
  • 1 yolk;
  • 2 onions;
  • 1 clove of garlic;
  • salt.

Stages of work:

  • Chop the onion into small cubes and fry over medium heat until the ingredient is transparent. This will require the bare minimum of oil.
  • We pass the prepared turkey through a meat grinder, combine the resulting minced meat with onions.
  • Add the pressed garlic, yolk and salt.
  • Lastly, add the grated hard cheese. Mix all the ingredients and form them into meatballs.
  • Fry in a frying pan with a minimum amount of oil. We transfer the meat products into a mold, pour in any sauce (creamy or tomato), then bake in the oven for 20 minutes at medium temperature.
  • Sprinkle the dish with cheese and place in the oven for another 7-10 minutes.

Advice! Since the indicated treat is prepared for children, you should not use a lot of spices.

Ground turkey for baby

Accustoming a child to meat products is not so easy, especially if it means constantly standing at the stove. An excellent way out of the situation is to cook meatballs for children from lean turkey meat. At the same time, it is convenient to make more semi-finished meat products, freeze them, and, if necessary, stew them using the preferred method.

Based on the next dish recipe, you need to prepare:

  • 300 g turkey meat;
  • 550 g carrots;
  • 50 g onion;
  • 150 g cabbage;
  • 1 egg;
  • salt.

Stages of work:

  • Shred the head of cabbage into small pieces.
  • Grind the turkey fillet in a blender along with onions and carrots.
  • Combine the minced meat with cabbage, add the egg. Mix the ingredients and add salt.
  • If the resulting mass turns out to be too liquid, add a little oatmeal or semolina flour. In this case, you will have to leave the resulting mass for 30 minutes to swell.
  • Roll the meatballs with wet hands, then cook them using your preferred method or freeze them.

Important! In the freezer, it is better to store the already chilled product in an airtight bag.
