If you want something new, you can always find a not very complicated recipe. And my favorite pastries come to the rescue. Today we will make together the national Moldovan pie - malai.

How to make “Corn flour pie with kefir”

Mix baking powder, vanilla sugar, flour and salt. In another bowl, beat eggs with sugar until foamy and mixture thickens.

Add egg mixture to flour mixture. Also add vegetable oil and kefir. Mix everything well and leave for 10 minutes. At this time, pour boiling water over the raisins, then dry them, sprinkle with flour and add to the dough.

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees. Line a baking pan with parchment and grease with margarine. Distribute the dough throughout the entire container.

Bake the pie for 40 minutes at medium temperature (usually 180 degrees) until golden brown. Sprinkle the finished baked goods with powdered sugar and serve with tea.

Corn pie with cheese

The dough in the recipe can be classified as gluten-free. Cornmeal pie is prepared with kefir. Form 25x25x6 cm. As for replacing baking soda with baking powder, the original recipe uses baking soda, so you can only experiment with baking powder.

Adviсe:

If the eggs are small, you may need to use more eggs. It is important that the resulting dough is not thick, because corn flour “absorbs” all the liquid.

For this baking, the grinding of corn flour is not of fundamental importance; flour of both fine and coarse grinding is suitable. Only the texture of the pie depends on it: the finer the grind, the more tender the finished product. When cornmeal is coarsely ground, the result is a cake with the loosest texture.

Everything turned out great. Not

Everything turned out great. I don’t know why someone has porridge, etc. True, I added 100 grams of sugar and replaced olive oil with 110 grams of ghee (I make it myself). And I added a little walnuts. The first time I cooked it with cornmeal. I like it.

Thanks for the recipe! Very

Thanks for the recipe! Very simple and fast. I would add on technology. For example, put a saucepan in a water bath and on low heat. I simply put it on high - it immediately burned to the bottom, and it brewed well in two minutes, not in 5-10. I would add less oil - you can feel the aftertaste (maybe mine is too concentrated and unrefined?) Well, 240 g of sugar - it’s too sweet for me too. I will do more. I'll add more zest.

The pie turned out easy

The pie turned out simply wonderful

, I only added vegetable oil, I don’t like the smell of olive oil. And, to avoid lumps at the initial stage, I intensively stirred the dough with a whisk while brewing. Today I will try to make muffins with strawberry jam from this dough

Thanks for the recipe, everyone

Thank you for the recipe, everything worked out, only instead of olive oil I added homemade ghee, I think whoever doesn’t like the taste of olive can be replaced with butter, a very tasty pie, thank you.

After reading the comments, I'm very

After reading the comments, I was very worried whether everything would work out. The result exceeded all my expectations)) I have never made a cake as soft and airy as this one. Super

Thanks for the recipe

Great recipe. Great

Great recipe. Looks great. Delicious. Today we are doing it for the third time. Thanks a lot.

The choux pastry turned out

The choux pastry turned out lumpy, but the eggs saved the day. As a result, the pie was not baked inside, although the outside had already begun to burn. The taste is so-so, not worth the long cooking process.

The most delicious pie

The most delicious pie, it just didn’t work out for you. Due to lumps, it was not brewed correctly and the technology was ruined.

The cake is very tasty, soft and

The pie is very tasty, soft and tender.

Great recipe. Turned out with

Great recipe. It turned out right the first time, only I added a little turmeric for color. This did not affect the taste in any way, but the color turned out very appetizing. Thank you very much for the recipe!

I always dreamed of trying

I've always wanted to try corn pie or muffin. In Brazilian TV series they look very, very appetizing

It always seemed to me that it smelled and tasted like corn. I tried your recipe. The result is no mess, as some have written here in the comments. The result is exactly the same pie as in the picture - crumbly, grainy and sooooo delicious. There is no smell or taste of corn, but... perhaps that is how it should be. Thank you very much for the recipe - we really liked it.

What to cook from corn grits?

If corn grits are available, recipes for preparing dishes from it will help you use the product in home cooking effectively and tasty.

  1. The easiest way to prepare cereal is to cook porridge from it, using water, milk or broth as a liquid base. The classic taste of such a dish can be easily varied by adding vegetables, fruits or meat ingredients.
  2. If you supplement the base component with a portion of wheat flour, you get delicious baked goods made from corn grits: cookies or bread, pancakes or pancakes, all kinds of pies or casseroles.
  3. Corn grits are the basis for preparing many traditional dishes of different nations. Among them are the popular Italian polenta, Moldavian or Romanian hominy, Georgian flatbread mchadi.

Step-by-step preparation

Step 1:

Let's prepare the ingredients. We will prepare a classic casserole without using any additives. All products needed for preparing the casserole that are stored in the refrigerator must be removed from it in advance so that they are at room temperature.

Step 2:

Pour cornmeal into a bowl. If you don’t have such flour on hand, you can easily and quickly make it at home by grinding corn grits in a coffee grinder; first, of course, you need to wash and dry the grits.

Step 3:

Add sugar and salt. The amount of these ingredients can be changed depending on taste preferences. Mix dry ingredients. Put a pinch of soda in a bowl and pour kefir over everything. An alkaline reaction must occur between the ingredients (soda and kefir).

Step 4:

Add a piece of softened butter to the corn mixture; if it is hard, it is better to melt it in a water bath and cool to room temperature, otherwise it will not be possible to mix it with other ingredients until smooth. Beat a chicken egg into a bowl. Mix the mixture thoroughly with a tablespoon or spatula until the chicken egg is completely dispersed.

Step 5:

Mix the mixture and leave on the table for 10 minutes. Let the flour soak in the liquid and the mass increase significantly in volume.

Step 6:

Grease the casserole dish with butter and sprinkle with cornmeal (the sides and bottom of the pan) so that it can be easily removed after baking. Pour the mixture into the mold. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Bake the dish for about 25 minutes, depending on the size of the mold and, accordingly, the volume of the mass, as well as on the operation of the oven. The casserole should increase in volume and brown on top.

  2. Beat eggs with milk separately, add to dry ingredients, stirring with a whisk until lumps dissolve, add butter.

Mchadi from corn grits

The products can not only be fried in a frying pan, but also baked in the oven until golden brown. The flatbreads are served with slices of suluguni, other cheese or lard.

Ingredients:

  • corn grits - 2 cups;
  • water – 2 glasses;
  • salt – 0.5 teaspoon;
  • oil for frying.
