A friend taught me how to make rice milk, it’s very simple: I’m sharing the recipe

Since switching to veganism, I have tried several plant-based milk recipes using different varieties of rice. The richest and most delicious rice milk comes from red or brown rice. Here I am sharing step by step how to make rice milk. Look, try to cook and don’t forget to write in the comments what you did.

I’ll tell you a little secret right away: in order for the rice milk to get a more pronounced aroma, the rice needs to be slightly browned in a dry frying pan. In this recipe I show how to prepare rice milk without heat treatment. To my taste, raw rice milk turns out more tasty and lively than if we boiled it, as in many recipes.

Properties of rice milk for the body of men, women and children

Benefits of rice milk for women , men and children :

  • digestive support;
  • regulation of pH (acidity) in the body;
  • prevention of cardiovascular diseases;
  • lowering cholesterol levels;
  • reduction of high blood pressure;
  • eliminating flatulence;
  • stool regulation;
  • suitable for consumption for celiac disease;
  • Suitable for vegetarians.

Benefit

Plant milk is not milk in the strict sense of the word, and in accordance with our legislation the term “beverage” is applied to it, because. The name “milk” describes exclusively a product of animal origin. While animal milk is processed differently after milking, plant-based drinks are produced through pressing and fermentation. They have less protein and more carbohydrates than cow products. They also have less saturated fat and are lactose-free. This is a fairly valuable source of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and lecithin. Plant-based drinks are often enriched with other valuable substances, which increases their nutritional value.

In addition to the absence of lactose, plant-based drinks also do not contain the milk protein casein or cholesterol. For this reason, they are used in several types of diets - lactose-free, hypocholesterol, diabetic, anti-allergic, weight loss diet.

Hypoallergenic

Rice milk, which benefits from no risk of allergic reactions after consumption, is a suitable alternative to cow's milk. It does not contain cholesterol and contains less fat, so it does not overload the digestive tract. The drink does not contain lactose or casein milk protein. Its advantage is that, unlike dairy products of animal origin, it does not acidify the body.

Energizes

As mentioned above, rice drink is rich in fiber, carbohydrates, minerals, and healthy fats, which makes it satiating and energizing. Its proteins are well absorbed and “integrated” into the human body. According to experts, its consumption is much more profitable than including classic animal milk, which is less digestible, in the diet.

Boosts immunity

Do you want to increase your body's defenses? Drink rice milk. The benefits (and harm) for women , children, and men are due to the special composition. Thanks to its beneficial composition, the drink promotes the formation of the body's immunity and is recommended for people suffering from allergies.

Plant milk contains many health benefits that benefit the entire body. In addition to the mentioned fiber, carbohydrates, minerals, lecithin and vitamins necessary for the body help support the immune system.

Improves skin

Women will appreciate the ability of rice milk to nourish the skin and significantly increase its elasticity.

Even in the literature you can find indirect confirmation of this fact, presented in conclusions about the beauty and elasticity of the skin of Japanese and Chinese women.

Harm

Inorganic arsenic is significantly more toxic than its organic compounds. It is harmful to humans, has a genotoxic, carcinogenic effect, causing mainly lung, bladder, and skin cancer. Today, arsenic toxicity is still the subject of scientific research; It is considered appropriate to introduce low restrictions on its content in food products, since each person receives 95% of this substance from the diet and drinking water, the rest through the skin and breathing.

Rice, more than other grains, accumulates arsenic in the outer layer of the grain. Therefore, whole grains typically contain more arsenic than white rice. Therefore, a product considered a healthy diet is harmful to consume in large quantities. Refined grains contain about 70% arsenic in inorganic form, whole grain rice - up to 80%.

Few nutrients

Rice milk is low in fats, vitamins (A, B12, D, K2), and minerals. These ingredients should be provided through a varied diet. Therefore, when giving up animal dairy products, include meat, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, legumes, leafy and cruciferous vegetables, and avocados in your diet. Try to get enough sun exposure to replenish vitamin D.

Not suitable for baby food

Now let's look at the benefits and harms of rice milk for children . An unflavored homemade or store-bought product with a suitable composition can be given to babies from 6 months, using it for drinking and preparing baby food. Calcium-enriched varieties can be introduced from 1 year of age. But like other rice products, plant milk should not be given to a young child every day, in part because of the possible arsenic content.

Important! Rice milk is never a suitable substitute for breast milk as it does not contain all the essential nutrients. Consequently, there is a risk of harm to the baby in the form of malnutrition!

Not recommended for diabetics

When purchasing rice milk, carefully read its ingredients. Manufacturers often add various stabilizers and flavorings to the drink. These chemicals reduce its quality. In addition, plant-based milk often contains corn starch, a carbohydrate that increases the glycemic index and the number of calories, which is harmful for diabetics.

Some drinks even contain glucose-fructose syrup, one of the products that leads to excess body weight. Other substances to avoid are hardened fats, sources of harmful trans fatty acids. Among other things, these substances significantly increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and aggravate existing disease.

Contraindications

Although rice milk is generally well tolerated, caution should be exercised if there is a risk of intolerance to the main ingredient. Like any food, rice can cause digestive problems.

Intolerance can develop from eating one type of food over a long period of time. Therefore, it is sometimes advisable to alternate this type of milk with oatmeal, almond, or coconut milk.

Rice milk is my new hobby!

It has many charms, but one of the main ones is that it is suitable for absolutely all allergy sufferers.

It doesn’t contain gluten like oat milk, it doesn’t have nuts like almond milk, it doesn’t contain lactose like regular milk, and it doesn’t cost a penny to make!

For the recipe we need brown rice. Why brown? It is simply many times healthier than white.

Brown rice is unprocessed white rice. The latter is made white (cleaned) so that it boils quickly.

In America, it is specially saturated with vitamins after purification, but this is, as one might put it, an artificial “benefit.”

Brown rice contains selenium, which fights cancer.

It is rich in manganese, which in turn helps our body form fatty acids that create a healthy form of cholesterol.

Manganese is also beneficial for reproductive function and nervous system health. Brown rice can easily be called an antioxidant. Rice is rich in fiber and wonderfully filling since it is a whole grain. Brown rice is also a healthier food option for diabetics. It is much more useful than white, as it is able to control blood sugar.

Rice milk is very similar in shape and texture to store-bought coconut milk. It is thick and slightly viscous. It can be used in many vegan recipes, but I think its most delicious use is a chocolate shake, which can be safely called a healthy Nesquik. My children were absolutely delighted with this delicacy and lined up for another portion.

I guarantee that after my recipe you will never again allow yourself to buy your children store-bought chocolate milk filled with sugar, because it is not even close to the cocktail that I offer. Very tasty, affordable and healthy.

Chocolate rice milk or regular milk - the choice is yours! Are we ready? Let's try!

We will need:

2 cups (1 cup = 250 ml) cooked brown rice

3.5 cups (for thick milk) – 4 (for thinner) water

5 large and soft dates

3 tbsp. spoons of cocoa without sugar

Let's start with the fact that you need to take brown, not white rice. To make a truly healthy drink, you can't do without brown rice.

The rice should be completely cooked, soft and not crunchy on the teeth. The cup must be filled tightly. Press the rice down with a spoon until you have 2 full cups of rice.

Mix the rice with water and beat for a few minutes. Strain the resulting liquid through cheesecloth or a fine sieve, then repeat the process a second time: put the milk in a blender, swirl it, then strain.

We get a slightly viscous composition. It's perfect for cocktails!

If you do not want to continue the recipe and make the milk chocolate, then I recommend adding a little water to make the composition more like regular milk.

Add cocoa and dates if you are in the mood for a chocolate dessert. Let's beat!

Ready! An absolutely fantastic chocolate cocktail “like from a store” is in front of you! Cool and serve. Bon appetit and a very healthy one!

How did the drink come about?

In ancient times, the favorite drink of the Moors was horchata, or horchata. It was prepared to quench thirst from ground almonds, which were also called chufa. Subsequently, the drink became famous in Spain, and then migrated to Latin America. Due to the shortage of ground almonds for making orchata, local residents began to look for available ingredients. At first, the drink was prepared from melon and pumpkin seeds. Later they were replaced by almonds and rice grains.

This is how rice milk was born. Currently, this healthy drink is popular in the United States, since strict vegetarianism is widespread in this country. There, rice milk is sold in all supermarkets. The product is in demand in India as well.

In addition, B vitamins make it easier to endure stress, cope with insomnia, and chronic fatigue. When the amount of B vitamins in the body decreases, the condition of the skin and hair significantly worsens, and nails begin to break. Thanks to regular consumption of rice milk, your complexion will become more even and you will feel much better.

Let's look at a few more beneficial properties of the drink:

  • The magnesium contained in the product helps relieve muscle tension. This element is very important during frequent stress and heavy loads.
  • Thanks to potassium, the heart muscle is strengthened.
  • Regular consumption of the drink normalizes stool, reduces intestinal motility, and helps get rid of diarrhea.
  • The presence of iodine in the composition prevents thyroid diseases.
  • Fiber helps lower the level of “bad” cholesterol in the blood and normalizes sugar levels.

With regular consumption of rice milk, immunity increases, the body resists many viruses with greater force

This is very important in wet weather, winter and autumn

The preparation procedure is very simple.

1. The rice grain must be soaked in water for 3 – 4 hours or more.

Soaking grains removes enzyme inhibitors and makes them more digestible.

2. Soaking the grains for the maximum recommended time (overnight) produces the best milk.

3. There are recipes that recommend boiling the rice and then adding water.

Try different options and choose the one you like best. But remember that this milk can be stored in the refrigerator for 2 - 3 days.
