You can do this with a silicone brush or a napkin soaked in juice (like me).
Using light, gentle, stroking movements, we touch the outer protruding parts of the petals.
Lubricate with vegetable oil...
We leave the third rose in its original form - WHITE...
Now we are building a festive composition...
And... we immediately swoon from this beauty………
Yes, and one more thing... I can say that the roses were perfectly preserved even after 7 hours. (although they were just standing on the table in the kitchen) - they were practically not weathered, the colors did not fade... well, they were just a little muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu with...
What am I talking about... And the fact that the roses will adequately withstand any multi-hour feast.
And so that the roses retain their appearance for one or two days, they are lightly lubricated with a gelatin solution. This would be appropriate for a wedding or big celebration.

And we will prepare from all the listed vegetables: buds from radishes, roses from beets and tomatoes, as well as carrot bells. So let's get started!
Carrot flowers
Most table decorations made from fruits and vegetables are quite difficult to make, and we must be prepared for painstaking work. A carrot flower will be a pleasant exception, because its creation does not require special knives and spoons or the extraordinary dexterity and dexterity of an experienced cook. We will tell you how to make such a decoration with your own hands in a step-by-step master class, and the main thing you will need is a steady hand, an eye and self-confidence! A carrot flower will be a good decoration for hot meat or poultry dishes, as well as a good addition to a salad, and not necessarily made from fresh green vegetables. With its unusual appearance and life-affirming color, it will create bright accents wherever you want!
Celery will give room for creative imagination
A real masterpiece can be made in a matter of minutes from the stems. Usually its stems are eaten, and a small piece near the root zone is thrown away. And in vain, make a fabulous flower out of it. Dilute your favorite color of food coloring according to the instructions. Holding the root part, dip a cut of celery into the paint. Turn it over, put it on a plate, let it dry and you can decorate the holiday table.
If you don't have celery, the bottom of the bok choy will do. If you do not plan to use this flower later, you can dip it in ink or paint and make an original stamp on the invitation envelope. After the paint has dried, give or forward the invitation to those you want to invite to visit. They will never guess what kind of print it is. And when they come, they will see original flowers made from vegetables; you can make a whole composition out of them with your own hands.
Products for creativity
To cut a flower from a carrot we need.
We take as many vegetables as we plan to make flowers.
We need the berries to create the center, so we take as many of them as there will be flowers from the carrots.
You can limit yourself to just one, since it will only be used when making a flower, and not for fastening. Then we will take it out and reuse it if desired.
As always, choose a small blade to ensure neat and precise cuts.
Here, in fact, is all the equipment we need to cut out a flower. So how do we do this?
Step-by-step execution
Step 1
We choose carrots, if possible, of approximately the same thickness along the entire length. This is important so that the finished flower is symmetrical and beautiful.
We wash, clean and remove the excess - we cut off the part where the carrots narrow significantly so that a completely even block remains.
We pierce the carrots with a skewer lengthwise so that it goes exactly in the middle.
Step 2
We begin to cut through the flower petals.
So we bring it to the very end, take out the skewer. Here we have a real carrot spring, it easily stretches and contracts. How can I make a flower out of it now?
Step 3
Carefully connect the ends to form a circle.
In general, everything is ready! Place the cherry in the center without removing the pits to prevent them from falling apart. In this case, we are concerned with a purely aesthetic aspect - you don’t have to eat the berry!
Decorate the flower with dill sprigs. You can add lemon butterflies or egg owls to it.
You see how easy and quick it is to make a carrot flower with your own hands. Perhaps this is one of the easiest decorations for the holiday table. Try it, friends, and be sure to share your impressions in the comments!
Carving knives
There are sets for artistic cutting to suit every budget and taste. But carving for beginners can be done without the use of special equipment for this type of creativity.
The channeling knife makes it easy to make grooves on vegetables and fruits. First, longitudinal strips are made with this tool, and then, for example, a lemon is cut crosswise into circles and flower-shaped figures are obtained.
Carving knives come in different diameters. They can be V-shaped or U-shaped. It is easy to cut out the leaves first and make engraving images on the fruit bark.
Using U-shaped knives, ornaments with rounded cuts are created.
Carving tools also include small scissors. Using them, flat straight, oblique or other cuts are made along the edge of the fruit.
Another interesting tool for carving is a double-sided noisette spoon. It is used for extracting pulp from large fruits, cutting out balls and hemispheres.
If you have not yet acquired such tools, you can replace them by carving vegetables and fruits with a scalpel or a fruit peeling knife.
More ideas that a tomato will help implement
Cut as many tomato slices as you want to make fun little flowers. You can also use whole fruits with peel. Place spinach or small lettuce leaves on a plate in a semicircle. Place a tomato slice in the middle. The flower will be mischievous - with eyes and a mouth. Make the eyes from two small cucumber slices, and the pupils from an olive cut in half.
Form a mouth from a semicircular piece of carrot, and place sweet corn in the form of teeth. The flower stem can be a branch of celery, parsley or dill. You can put the same flower next to it on the plate. Serve a salad to your child: even if he didn’t like vegetable dishes before, he will eat it with pleasure.
Vegetable decoration - radish flower
Cut off the top of the radish and mentally draw a pentagon here. Now move the knife down from this place (but not all the way) to mark the first petal. Do all five this way.
Now take the scissors and use them to process all 5 petals of the outer row, sharpening the top of each, as shown in the photo.
Next, make a second row of petals, which are staggered relative to the first. Then - the third and subsequent inner rows.
This is how you can make vegetable salad decorations. Try cutting not only a lily, but also a rose from a radish.
To make it look like this multi-petalled, wash the root crop and cut off the green part of it. On the opposite side, make several parallel slits in the center and then on the side of the root vegetable. Take another radish and chop it into thin slices. Insert them into the slots of the first root vegetable. Here you have such an elegant flower. Find out what other vegetable salad decorations you can quickly cut out.
Bruschi
Large root vegetables are better suited for cutting into cubes:
- Cut the carrots (if necessary) into several pieces.
- Cut each part into longitudinal slices, 0.5-0.7 cm thick.
- Stack the plates and cut them lengthwise into bars.
Ideally, the width of the block will be equal to the thickness of the plate, but if this does not work out, no big deal.
How to make a lily from an onion?
You can get such a wonderful chrysanthemum in just 5 minutes of work.
Now make a cut perpendicular to this, and then a few more. The more there are, the fluffier the flower will turn out.
Pour water at room temperature into a bowl, lower the workpiece into it, and let the onion soak in the liquid for 40–120 minutes. During this time, the petals will “bloom” and you will get a beautiful flower using the carving technique.
Cooking a dish step by step with photos
We will make decorative edible roses from raw carrots, so I advise you to take a beautiful, large and even fruit. In addition, for blanching we will need a little water and very little sugar (you don’t have to use it). When you decorate desserts or baked goods with ready-made flowers, I also advise you to take fresh mint or lemon balm leaves to make it more realistic. Well, and wooden toothpicks, of course.
For this recipe (if this MK can be called a recipe) you will definitely need a special vegetable peeler. The fact is that you won’t be able to make thin slices with an ordinary knife (even a super-sharp one) - I speak from my own experience. Peel the carrots and cut off the ends.
Then, in a similar way, we get these very thin carrot layers. One large carrot will produce a lot of them.
In order for these same strips to become more obedient, they need to be blanched. In other words, boil for a very short time. To do this, pour some water into a suitable container, add a little sugar if desired, bring everything to a boil and boil for a couple of minutes. It turns out to be a light sugar syrup. Place a few carrot ribbons into the boiling syrup and cook over medium heat for literally 15-20 seconds.
It is only important to lower the strips so that they become elastic, but do not become soft.
In this way, blanch all the carrot ribbons and transfer them to a dish to cool - this will make it easier to work with them.
The fun part begins - the creative process. I tried to take as many photos as possible to make everything clear and easy. We take one ribbon and wrap it towards ourselves from one edge. It turns out to be a kind of fold.
Now we begin to twist it counterclockwise so that we visually get a twisted petal. We hold the carrot ribbon tightly so that nothing falls apart.
Then it will probably be quite difficult for you to understand from the photo what needs to be done, but I will try to describe. When the beginning has been made and we have formed a bud from 1 twisted petal, we need to add a second petal. To do this, we wrap the carrot ribbon (we are still working with the first one) again towards ourselves, so that we also get a double layer, as in step 6.
We twist the bud in one direction until this double layer is completed. We hold the workpiece FIRMLY! It may fall apart, but that's okay - you'll start all over again.
This is what our future color looks like from the side.
Twist the carrot ribbon to the very end.
We take the next ribbon, bend it as we did before, and continue making petals.
Thus, one flower can take from 2 to 5 carrot ribbons - it all depends on the size of the rose.
Side view of the flower - the straight ends of the strips hang freely.
At this stage you need to fix the carrot flower with a wooden toothpick. We pierce it as low as possible so that later this same toothpick is not visible.
Using kitchen scissors, we cut off all excess, that is, the ends of the carrot strips.
Additionally, we fix the flower with another toothpick. Use your fingers to straighten the petals, giving them a beautiful rose shape.
After this, carefully, right to the spine, cut the toothpicks with scissors. If you do it really carefully, they won't be visible. Carrot rose is ready.
Similarly, we make as many colors as you need.
And also buds - one carrot strip is enough for one. In general, making such flowers from carrots is not difficult. Practice and, of course, desire are important here.
I hope my humble MK will be useful to you and you will get the most beautiful carrot roses. And then you can have fun with the kids - they will be delighted with this activity. By the way, these flowers taste no different from fresh carrots - they are just as juicy, sweet and crunchy. Good luck, my dears!
How to cut a delicious carrot decoration?
Take a root vegetable whose diameter is at least 3 centimeters. Trim upwards so that the length of the carrot is 8–12 cm. Remove the outermost pulp from the wide end of the root vegetable so that a square “tail” remains.
Now process the workpiece from the same side along the turn, rounding its shoulders on all sides. Then visually divide this top of the carrot into 6 parts, which will turn into scales of a do-it-yourself cone.
By deepening the tip of the knife by 2–3 mm, mark these scales. To prepare the area for the second row of scales, cut a circle of carrot pulp just below the first. In the same way, but in a checkerboard pattern, make the second row of scales. Underneath it, again remove some of the carrot pulp in a cone to make a third row of scales, which will be staggered in relation to the second.
Using the same technique, you can make a few more cones to then create a beautiful vegetable bouquet.
If you were making this salad garnish, then place the pine cones in the center of the dish or place them along the edge of it. If you want to create such an amazing bouquet as in the photo, then string the processed carrots onto a wire wrapped with green floral tape. You will stick the second end of the wire into the pumpkin, the flesh of which is also shaped using the carving technique. All that remains is to cut out the petals from the cucumber, decorate the composition with dill, after which you can place it in the most prominent place in the house or in the center of the holiday table.
If you have carving knives, then use a V-shaped one to make pointed scales. And the U-shaped one will help create rounded ones.

Straws
The next type of cutting is into strips. You can cut it thinner or thicker, longer or shorter, depending on the dish you want to prepare.
In order to cut carrots into strips, you need to cut them into two parts. Using gentle movements along the length, cut off a thin layer. This way you will get a lot of plates about 0.5 cm wide. We connect them together and cut into strips slowly. You can cut each plastic separately for convenience, but this will take much longer.
Steps for turning carrots into sticks Carrots into sticks
Julien (Julien). Slicing julienned carrots is a way to prepare thin strips. This type is found when preparing soups and sauces to give the dish a more delicate consistency. The only difference is the length of the resulting cut, as a rule it is about 5 cm. It is necessary to cut the carrots in half, make a block, cutting off the excess. The resulting plates should be identical to each other in thickness and length,
The choice of straw also depends on the aesthetic presentation. It takes painstaking work to achieve a good result in size and volume.
In small blocks
Cutting carrots into cubes requires perseverance in its implementation, since any unevenness will be immediately visible to the naked eye. There is also the concept of thin bars, which are more often used for frying, and thick bars, when preserving foods.
You should cut the carrots in half with a well-sharpened knife, then lengthwise several more times; the width of the cubes will depend on your dish.
