Principles of nutrition
Do not confuse dietary nutrition with mono-diets; they have nothing in common. Diet food is a varied diet, only containing a reduced amount of calories.
To get a low-calorie product, you just need to learn how to cook it correctly. For example, for comparison, a fish such as cod, fried, contains 135 kcal per 100 g, and cod cooked in a steamer - only 70 kcal.
Cod is a skinny fish and contains a minimal amount of fat. It is recommended for use by overweight people with problems with the liver and thyroid gland.
Steamed cod is a complete source of protein, phosphorus, calcium, potassium and vitamin B12. This dietary and healthy fish is allowed to be consumed from the first days of the Dukan diet, on the 60 system, on the Maggi diet, from the third week of the Protasov diet and on many other diets.
Those who have learned to cook cod in a double boiler know that diet food can also be incredibly tasty!

Cooking process
If you use frozen fish for cooking, it is recommended to defrost it under natural conditions. That is, no use of hot water or microwave. Thawed cod should be rinsed a little under running water and dried with a paper or cloth kitchen towel.
The onion is cut into slices. Salt the fish, season with spices and sprinkle with lemon juice. Cut a large square piece of foil. Place the fish in the center and onion slices on top. Then pour sour cream over everything and add a little coarsely grated cheese. Wrap the fish and place it on the grill. You will need to pour a mug of cold water into the multicooker bowl in advance.
Set the timer (mode) for 30 minutes. After the dish is ready, we recommend serving it beautifully to the table. To do this, take the cod steaks out of the foil and carefully place them on a plate. Pour the remaining sauce on top. Decorate with fresh herbs.
Cod in a steamer with vegetables
In order to prepare amazingly tasty and incredibly healthy cod with vegetables you will need:
- 400 grams of fish;
- one small onion;
- one hundred grams of carrots;
- zucchini – 200 gr.;
- broccoli – 250 grams;
- a little salt and black pepper;
- vegetable or olive oil - 50 ml.
First you need to prepare the vegetables. Broccoli must be disassembled into inflorescences, and zucchini must be cut as desired (small sticks, semicircles or cubes). The carrots are washed and cut into circles or grated on a coarse grater. Onions are cut into half rings.
To make the Steamed Cod recipe take a minimum of time, it is recommended to buy ready-made fish fillets. We cut it into portions and make small cuts in each. We will use a double boiler for cooking. Pour some water into the bottom. We install special grates, which are pre-lubricated with a small amount of vegetable or olive oil. The ideal option is to have two or more gratings located at different heights. This will save you a lot of time.
We recommend placing vegetables on the lower rack. They can be lightly salted. There will be a fish on top. Close the lid of the steamer. Set the timer (or simply mark the time on the clock) for 20 minutes.
After the steamed cod fillet is ready, you should take care of the correct, beautiful presentation of the dish. It is recommended to place one piece of fish in the center of the plate, sprinkling a little olive oil. Steamed vegetables will be located along the edges.
