Cooking steps

It is better to start the mackerel pie recipe by preparing the dough, which you will then need to add to the dough. The dough must sit for some time for the yeast to react.

1.

To start, take a small deep bowl. Heat the milk in a saucepan over heat (no need to boil).

2.

Then pour it into a bowl, add dry instant yeast and granulated sugar. Stir everything until completely dissolved and set the bowl aside for 15 minutes.

Kneading yeast dough

The recipe for a flour pie base is easy to follow and does not require any special ingredients.

The dough will work with fresh yeast, but you will need almost three times as much.

1.

Mix wheat flour with salt, and then carefully sift the resulting dry mixture through a special sieve.

2.

Make sure the butter is softened in advance. Remove it from the refrigerator and leave it on the counter at room temperature. Add the softened butter to the dry dough and rub everything into crumbs with your fingers.

3.

Combine the flour crumbs with the previously prepared dough and knead the yeast dough. Using vigorous hand movements, knead the flour pie base until the dough is smooth and elastic.

4.

Then form a ball from the yeast base and wrap it in cling film or a plastic bag. Place the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes and make the fish filling.

Preparing the filling

The pie turns out incredibly tasty with fresh fish.

1.

Wash the mackerel well under running water. Then clean each fish from the head, fins, tails and ridges so that you are left with clean fish fillets.

2.

Finely chop the mackerel into pieces with a kitchen knife.

3.

Free the onions from dry skins, wash, dry with a towel, and then chop.

4.

Place fish fillets and onions in a separate large bowl. Then add salt, sugar and ground black pepper. Mix the filling well with a tablespoon and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

As you may have noticed, the recipe for mackerel filling is also quite simple.

1.

Remove the yeast dough from the refrigerator. Divide the flour base into two unequal parts. Flour the table and rolling pin. Roll out most of it into a cake according to the size of your baking sheet.

2.

Grease the baking tray itself with a small amount of butter/vegetable oil or line it with baking paper. Then carefully transfer the flour layer onto a baking sheet. Spread the fish filling on top in an even layer.

3.

Roll out a smaller part of the yeast base in the same way with a rolling pin into a cake and place it on top of the mackerel with onions.

4.

Carefully pinch the edges of the homemade pastries so that the filling does not escape. The fish pie must be pricked with a fork in several places so that steam can escape freely.

5.

carefully break into a small bowl. Beat it with a fork until smooth and brush over the appetizer.
