Fanta at home: recipe
2 oranges are not enough for such a drink. Moreover, in order for Fanta to be as rich and aromatic as possible, you should add peeled peels rather than the citrus fruits themselves. But first things first.
What ingredients do you need to purchase to make delicious and healthy homemade Fanta? The recipe for this drink requires the use of:
- orange peels - from 8 fresh fruits;
- boiling water - about 3 liters;
- fine white sugar - about 2 kg;
- citric acid - 4 dessert spoons.
Cooking method
To make this drink, fresh oranges are thoroughly washed with a brush, dried and the peels are carefully peeled off. After chopping the zest with a knife, place it in a large container and pour boiling water over it. After mixing the ingredients, cover them with a gauze cloth and leave at room temperature for exactly one day.
After time, the orange peels are caught and passed through a meat grinder. As for the aromatic liquid, it is placed on the fire and brought to a boil. Then all the crushed crusts are put back into the water.
Remove the container with the drink from the stove, cover it with a gauze cloth and leave for about another day.
After Fanta has infused at room temperature, it is filtered through cheesecloth, removing as much as possible all the crusts. Then about 2 kilograms of white sugar are added to the liquid. All ingredients are mixed, put back on the fire and brought to a boil. At the very end, citric acid is added to the drink.
After removing the resulting syrup from the heat, taste it. If the drink is too rich and sweet, then it should be diluted with ordinary boiled water. After this, homemade Fanta is poured into plastic bottles and placed in the refrigerator. The taste of this drink is no different from the store-bought one, but it turns out to be much healthier.
How to make an orange drink for the winter
- Wash whole oranges (not peeled) thoroughly in warm water, possibly with a brush, to completely remove all dirt and wax from the surface. Wipe dry and place in the freezer overnight - when frozen, the zest will lose its characteristic bitterness, and the juice will be richer.
- Thaw oranges at room temperature. It is not necessary to thaw them completely; it is enough to simply bring them to softness so that it is convenient to grind them in a meat grinder. Cut each orange into 6-8 pieces. If there are bones, remove them.
- We pass the fruit along with the zest through a meat grinder with a medium or large mesh. The result will be a slightly frozen, dense and very aromatic citrus pulp.
- Pour the orange mass into 2 liters of raw cold water and let it brew for 10 minutes. Any water will do, both spring and tap water, but it is still advisable to use soft, filtered water.
- Strain through a colander (with a fine mesh) to remove large particles, and then filter again through cheesecloth folded 5-6 times. Discard the pulp, leaving only the juice. The better you strain, the clearer the juice will be, with minimal sediment, so you can filter several times.
- Add another 3 liters of cold raw water to the strained juice, add 500 g of sugar and 15 g of citric acid (it will add the missing sourness, balance the taste, and also play the role of a preservative). Stir everything and bring to a boil.
- Boil the orange drink for no more than 1-2 minutes from the moment of boiling in order to preserve all the vitamins in it as much as possible. Pour hot into sterilized jars and immediately seal with clean, sterilized lids.
The output will be 5 liters of a delicious orange drink. We send the jars for storage in the basement or other dark, dry and cool place.
Seaming shelf life is 1 year. A slight sediment may form due to the use of natural raw materials. Before drinking, the container with the drink must be cooled, shaken thoroughly and can be poured into glasses.

Carbonated homemade Fanta
A carbonated drink is made very simply - instead of filtered water, you use mineral water with gases for preparation. But only for immediate use, and not for storing for the winter.
It is better to take a highly carbonated one, since some of the gas is neutralized during the cooking process. And still try to cover the container to preserve it. An important nuance is maintaining proportions. Syrup (settled water with fruits and citruses) and soda are used in a 1:1 ratio. The birth of a “fantasy” legend
Human imagination, realized in practical life, is capable of conquering the world even in difficult conditions. The history of Fanta convincingly proves this.
Germany, 1940, Coca-Cola factory. This is where the legendary drink was born.
The anti-Hitler coalition imposed an embargo on the supply of raw materials. The plant stopped receiving the ingredients needed to produce Coca-Cola. The economic situation dictated two harsh demands: either completely curtail production or invent a new recipe.
The manager of the German division of Coca-Cola, Max Keit, decided to prepare another drink, which would include available ingredients - apple pulp and whey. Ingenuity helped to do this. The producers jokingly called the new recipe formula fantastic. The name "Fantastic" was shortened to the famous "Fanta".
The business was saved and its position became much stronger thanks to Fanta, although at that time it had a completely different taste, which every average inhabitant of the planet knows today. The war ended, supplies of raw materials resumed, but Fanta was not discontinued.
Italy contributed to the invention - orange Fanta conquered the world with its taste and freshness. Neapolitan Ermelio Matarazzo di Licosa, at his factory, after negotiations with managers, began producing a carbonated orange drink, the main ingredient of which was Italian oranges.
Fanta was loved in Europe, then the carbonated “fantasy” crossed the oceans, delighting America and Australia. Then, having overcome a certain curtain, she came to the Soviet Union and Asia.
The bright, invigorating orange pearl changes its recipe slightly depending on the taste preferences of the population. Some countries like it sweeter, while other countries prefer a rich, fruity flavor.
Fanta managed to overcome the Iron Curtain and get to the Soviet people in 1979. Preparations for the Olympics were in full swing. The orange pearl, the production of which was established in the capital's factories, became the official drink of the Olympic Games in Moscow.
