Slicing sausage with a slicer

In supermarket displays you can often see perfectly even slices of sausage in vacuum packaging or trays covered with cling film. In most cases, slicers installed directly in the sausage departments of stores are used to prepare such cuts.

Slicers (the word comes from the English slice - slice, which is why it is also called a slicer) are created specifically for quickly slicing products in large volumes. An electric knife can be stationary or manual. But in both cases, it makes it possible to very thinly slice raw smoked sausage, sujuk, cheese, as well as bread and vegetables.

Electric assistants vary in power (more powerful devices can cope with solid products and require less cooling breaks). The blades can also be different. Budget models use straight ones, while more expensive ones use wavy ones. The second type is more durable and holds an edge longer, providing ideal cut quality.

Using a slicer, you can cut sausage into thin slices (and the thickness of the slices can be set before slicing), and also chop it to make a salad or okroshka. In most models, you can set not only the thickness, but also the cutting angle.

Ham and cabbage rolls

Required components:

  • sweet carrots - 1 pc.;
  • processed cheese - 2 pcs.;
  • ham (thin slices) - 18–20 layers;
  • juicy cabbage - 300–400 g;
  • green peas - 4 tbsp. l.;
  • mayonnaise - 2 tbsp. l.;
  • salt - optional.

Cooking order:

  1. Finely chop the cabbage, add a little salt, and lightly rub with your hands. You need to slightly reduce the volume of vegetable mass.
  2. Add chopped processed cheese (don’t forget to keep them in the freezer for a quarter of an hour), canned (or fresh) peas, finely grated carrots, chopped herbs and salt.
  3. Season the resulting mixture with fresh mayonnaise.

Place portions of the aromatic composition on the meat slices, carefully roll the products, and serve.

Spectacular rolls, easily and quickly made from ham, can be decorated with different fillings. What could be simpler for a festive feast than an exquisitely executed meat appetizer with a tender, satisfying and very appetizing filling made from a variety of ingredients.

Shredding on a grater

Many modern graters have a specially sharpened attachment designed for sausages. Shredding will take much less time than cutting with a knife, so this method is often used in preparation for large feasts - anniversaries, weddings.

It can be difficult to get even slices even with a sharp blade. However, there is a little trick: the sausage is slightly frozen before slicing. This ensures higher speed and excellent quality – with virtually no waste.

The shredder is not suitable for all varieties: if there are large pieces of lard in the minced meat, they may fall out. In this case, it is better to put the grater aside and pick up a knife.
