Avocado sauce is a hearty dish with a pleasant taste. There are a large number of dressings based on this fruit because it goes well with many foods. Making sauces does not take much time and effort, does not require special skills, and they are easy to prepare in your home kitchen.

How to make avocado sauce

The base of the sauce, of course, is avocado. It is important to purchase ripe fruits for the sauce. Their flesh should be easily mashed with a fork. If you come across an unripe fruit, do not be upset. Just wrap it in paper and put it in a dark place for several days, the fruit will reach the desired level of ripeness.

The fruit must be carefully cut around the perimeter to the pit, then carefully divided into two halves. After which, you need to remove the bone. Peeling a cut avocado with a knife is not very convenient; it is much easier to remove the pulp with a spoon. The extracted pulp can be crushed in any convenient way; you can simply mash it or grind it in a blender along with other ingredients.

To make avocado sauce, vegetables are added to the puree of the main ingredient. These can be tomatoes, garlic, onions, hot peppers. These ingredients are either finely chopped or pureed using a blender. It is advisable to remove the skins of the tomatoes so that the sauce is more homogeneous.

In addition to vegetables, herbs, lemon or lime juice, and olive oil are often added to the sauce. In addition, spices are used to bring the sauce to the desired taste.

Interesting facts: avocado has many other names, it is called alligator pear, soldier's or poor man's butter, American Perseus.

What kind of fruit is this avocado?

Actually, it is a bit of a stretch to classify it as a fruit. Avocado grows on trees reaching a height of 18 meters and resembles more of a nut. Its fruits come in various shapes - round and oval, but most often pear-shaped. Translated from the Aztec language, this word means “testicle.” In Russian there were other names for these fruits - “alligator pear” and “agakat”. This plant comes from Mexico in the Caribbean and, according to some sources, it was grown two thousand years before the beginning of our era. Today, avocados are grown in tropical and subtropical regions of different continents and, for example, in European stores they are no longer exotic and are available all year round.
