Some may be surprised, but oranges are specially frozen before making juice from them. You may ask - why do this? The answer is simple: after freezing, the orange peel loses its bitterness, and the juice turns out much tastier. In the recipes you can see the headlines: “From 4 oranges - 9 liters of juice”, all this is almost true.
Ingredients: oranges, sugar Time to set: All year
Such juices are generously diluted with water, but then flavored with sugar and citric acid. The benefits of such juice are very doubtful, but you get a lot of it. What is needed for a large company. But, if you want natural juice that is tasty and healthy, I recommend sticking to the following recipe:
- 4 large oranges (about 1 kg);
- 1 liter of drinking water;
- 250 g sugar;
- Citric acid to taste.
Wash the oranges thoroughly with warm water and a brush. Pour boiling water over them and dry.
Place them in the freezer overnight.
Now the oranges, along with the peel, need to be crushed in a blender. Cutting a frozen orange into pieces is not so easy, so either wait until it thaws on its own or force it to defrost in the microwave.
Since there is no waste here, you will get exactly 1 kg of orange pulp. Pour half the water into it and let it brew for 30 minutes.
Dilute the rest of the water with sugar. You may need to warm it up a little so that the sugar dissolves better.
Strain the orange juice through a sieve and mix with sweet water. Taste it, maybe you need to add more water or citric acid?
The pulp remaining after straining the oranges will also come in handy. This is orange zest, and as soon as you add sugar to it, you will immediately have a filling for a pie, or a sponge roll, or you can try making orange marshmallow.

DIY orange juice
Ingredients:
- large oranges - 3 pieces;
- boiled water - 6,750 l;
- granulated sugar - 1,000 kg;
- lemon - 0.150 kg.
Cooking method:
- Rinse the fruits thoroughly.
- Dry, cut into any shape.
- Wash the lemon.
- Cut as desired.
- Place the cut oranges and oranges into the meat grinder.
- Spin using a fine wire rack.
- Transfer the resulting mass into a large container.
- Pour in 3 liters of pre-prepared chilled boiled water.
- Infuse the contents for 3 hours.
- If the fruits have been rolled with zest, you should not leave the preparation for longer than the specified time - as a result, it may become bitter.
- Then strain the resulting product in several stages: colander - fine sieve - gauze (in several layers).
- Pour 3.750 liters of water into a large container.
- Add the amount of sugar indicated in the recipe.
- Boil until sugar is completely dissolved.
- After the sugar has dissolved in the water, pour in the strained juice.
- Mix thoroughly, boil for 5 minutes and remove from heat.
- Pour the finished product into pre-sterilized containers. Roll up the lids.

Pumpkin Orange Juice Recipe
Ingredients:
- Small pumpkin – 1 piece;
- Orange – 3 pieces;
- Granulated sugar – 1-1.5 cups;
- Citric acid – 1-2 tablespoons.
Cooking method:
- Wash the oranges well, pass through a juicer, remove the seeds from the resulting liquid;
- Now you need to prepare the pumpkin, peel it, remove the core and seeds, cut it into small pieces;
- Place the pumpkin in a container and fill it with water; you don’t need to add too much water, the main thing is that it covers the pumpkin pieces;
- Cook the pieces for about 10-15 minutes, until the pulp is completely cooked, and then cool;
- The cooled pumpkin must be ground through a sieve or blended with a blender;
- In a saucepan, collect the pumpkin pulp, sugar, citric acid and the resulting citrus juice, mix well;
- Pour the nectar into sterilized jars and seal with lids.

Recipe 1. Orange drink at home: nectar
From just five not very large oranges you can prepare more than 10 liters of a refreshing, tasty drink. Moreover, the recipe is so simple that, having prepared nectar in this way once, you will return to it again and again.
• 10 liters of boiled chilled water;
• five medium-sized oranges;
• 30 grams of citric acid.
1. First, boil and completely cool the required amount of water.
2. Wash the oranges thoroughly without peeling them. Place in a large bowl and pour boiling water over it for five minutes. Afterwards we dry it and put it in the refrigerator for several hours, this way we will get rid of the bitterness inherent in citrus zest.
3. Remove the settled oranges and cut into large pieces along with the peel. Pass it through a meat grinder.
4. Fill the aromatic mass with three liters of water and let it brew for ten minutes.
5. Strain the nectar first through a colander, then through a sieve.
6. Dilute the nectar with the remaining water, sugar, and citric acid.
7. Stir the drink thoroughly and leave for an hour or two until the sugar is completely dissolved.
8. Pour the finished drink into bottles and put it in the refrigerator.
From the remaining citrus mass we can make delicious jam. To do this, mix the orange pulp with sugar to taste and simmer over low heat until thickened. Place the jelly-like jam into sterilized jars. Cool and seal.
Orange juice delicious recipe
Ingredients:
- oranges (as mentioned above, only 4 pieces)
- sugar (1 kilogram)
- citric acid (30 grams)
- boiled water (9 liters)
Cooking method:
- To begin, wash the oranges thoroughly, then pour boiling water over them and place them in the freezer (preferably overnight, but possible for 2 hours).
- Then we take out the oranges and defrost them.
- To defrost faster, you can use the microwave.
- Then we cut the oranges into small pieces, but do not throw away the peel, we cut it too.
- Many people skip freezing and thawing, and do not make juice from frozen oranges, but immediately start slicing, but decide for yourself.
- Grind the chopped oranges in a blender into a homogeneous mass.
- Then we dilute this mass with 3 liters of boiled (but cold) water.
- Let it sit for about 20-30 minutes.
- While the juice is infusing, in a separate bowl, dissolve 1 kilogram of sugar and citric acid in the remaining 6 liters of boiled water.

Orange juice for the winter
Ingredients:
- 1 kg of oranges;
- 0.9 kg sugar;
- 200 g honey (better than flower honey);
- 4.5 liters of purified water;
- 2 jars with a capacity of 3 liters and how many metal lids
Cooking method:
- Peel the zest using a special knife.
- We remove the white skin, fibers and veins from the fruit.
- Cut the fruits into pieces of arbitrary shape.
- Place the sliced oranges in steamed jars.
- Boil the syrup, place the zest in it and boil for 15 minutes.

Classic recipe of 4 oranges and citric acid
The simplest and most popular version of a homemade orange drink is made from water, oranges and citric acid. You will need a large saucepan (at least 10-liter) and several plastic bottles or three-liter jars for juice. Let's see how to make 9 liters of juice from 4 lemons.
An important nuance: in the classic recipe, for nine liters of ready-made juice, it is suggested to take a kilogram of white sugar. For those who don't like sugary drinks, this is a lot. Therefore, the amount of sugar needs to be adjusted to your taste. If half a kilogram doesn’t seem like enough, you can always add more.
Ingredients:
• four large juicy oranges;
• two teaspoons of citric acid;
• nine liters of clean water;
• sugar to taste (500-700 grams).
Cooking method:
- Scald the oranges with boiling water to remove the wax layer. Then wipe with a hard, clean cloth or scrub with a brush. Wipe thoroughly.
- Place the oranges in the freezer for at least two hours. It’s even better if the citrus fruits spend the night in the freezer and freeze thoroughly.
- Cut frozen fruits into small slices along with the peel.
- Pass the pieces through the middle grid of a manual or electric meat grinder or grind in a blender. The first option is more convenient, since the result is a thick mass with larger particles. It’s easier to strain it through a sieve and squeeze it out.

- Filter the infusion through a gauze filter (gauze folded several times) or a fine sieve.
- Return the juice to the pan (you can also use a bucket).
- Add sugar, varying the amount to suit your taste.
- Dissolve citric acid in a small amount of water (take it from the remaining 6 liters) and pour into orange juice.
- Stir the drink thoroughly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- It remains to pour six liters of water into the pan. This is the answer to the question of how to prepare 9 liters of juice from 4 oranges.
- Pour the finished juice into prepared glass or plastic containers.
- You can drink it right away, but it is not advisable. The juice should infuse a little: this will help the drink acquire a harmonious taste.
Juice from frozen oranges “Morozko”
Ingredients:
- Frozen oranges – 1.5 kilograms;
- Granulated sugar – 100 gr.;
- Pure water – 200 ml.
Cooking method:
- Defrost the fruit, rinse well, remove the peel, now you need to squeeze out the juice, you can use a manual citrus juicer, you can punch it with a blender, you can grind it with a meat grinder, and then squeeze out the resulting nectar, the method doesn’t really matter;
- The resulting nectar must be filtered and poured into a container;
- In another container you need to mix sugar and water, cook syrup from these ingredients;
- Mix the resulting syrup with nectar, pour into a saucepan and heat to high temperature, cook for 25 minutes;
- While the syrup is boiling, you need to prepare the jars, rinse them with water and heat them in the oven or in a steam bath (to prevent the jars from bursting, they must be placed in a cold oven and turned on);
- You also need to prepare a container with water and place it on the stove; all jars with preparations for sterilization should fit into it;
- Pour the finished product into warm jars and close with lids;
- Place the jars in a container with water, it should have a temperature of about 85 degrees, bring to a boil and sterilize for 25-35 minutes, depending on the size of the jars;
- Remove the sterilized jars with twists from the water, turn them upside down and leave to cool, after which the jars are put away for storage.
- The fruit cake and zest that remains after preparing similar recipes can also be used for making jam, candied fruits, marmalade, and so on.
