Potato and boiled sausage casserole

The simplest and most common type of casserole. We will cook it with boiled sausage.

Ingredients:

  • 400 g potatoes;
  • 200 g boiled sausage;
  • 100 g cheese (hard);
  • 2 garlic cloves;
  • Half a glass of sour cream;
  • Salt and ground black pepper.

Preparation:

Wash the potato tubers thoroughly and cook them directly in the skins in slightly salted water (about twenty minutes). Now drain the water, peel the potatoes and cool them. While the potatoes are cooling, cut the sausage into thin petals, peel and chop the garlic and turn the cheese into cheese shavings using a grater.

Now we begin to assemble the casserole. Turn on the oven in advance and grease the prepared casserole dish with oil. By the way, you can also sprinkle the pan with breadcrumbs. So, cut the potatoes into thin circles and overlap them, place them in a circle in a mold. Sprinkle with half the chopped garlic and place the sausage in a second layer. We also sprinkle this layer with garlic, and cheese on top. Salt, season with ground black pepper and add sour cream. Place the pan in the oven for about fifteen minutes. Serve the casserole hot.

How to fill

First of all, break the eggs into a clean bowl. Season them with salt and freshly ground pepper. Add grated cheese and some different herbs that you can find in your home kitchen. Whip everything with a whisk, but only until completely mixed. For spiciness, you can optionally add some Spanish or Mexican sauce.

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and use a spatula to smooth the top of the potato casserole. Pour in the egg-cheese mixture and put the Spanish tortilla back in the oven. The flatbread should be finished cooking on top. It will take approximately 7 minutes to bake the omelette. Don't overcook it, otherwise it will turn out dry.

As a result, the cheese melted, the omelette baked, and all the ingredients came together. The result was an amazing potato casserole stuffed with sausage.

But if you decide to cook it in a frying pan, you need to grate the potatoes, then they will fry faster. You will definitely have to cover the pan with a lid on top so that the cheese melts. Today you will have a great dinner or a very filling breakfast. Bon appetit!

Some tricks

It would seem that what could be special about preparing an ordinary casserole with sausage? It seems that everything is extremely simple and clear. However, the recipe has some features that you need to know in order for the dish to turn out fluffy and tender.

We offer several simple secrets for preparing sausage casserole:

  • If the ingredients include cheese, then it is best to choose hard varieties, such as Dutch or Russian. Please also note that it must melt well in order for the casserole to form an appetizing golden brown crust.
  • Many housewives often doubt which sausage is best to use for casserole? Don't limit yourself in your choice. In this case, absolutely any one is suitable. The main thing is that it is fresh. Taking care of your own health comes first! Choose the one that you and your family like. But there is one caveat. If you take boiled one with pieces of fat, then be prepared for the fact that the finished dish will be quite high in calories. If you are not satisfied with this, it is better to discard this variety and take another one.
  • To make the casserole especially fluffy and tender, beat the eggs with a mixer. And to give the finished dish an exquisite creamy taste, add a few teaspoons of cream to the eggs. If desired, you can use sour cream. A lighter option is medium fat milk.
  • You don’t have to limit yourself to just one type of sausage. It turns out very tasty and unusual when you take several: semi-smoked and boiled ham, balyk. Cut the required amount into small pieces and mix. Alternatively, you can lay out each layer separately.
  • If you want to use onions or carrots, it is best to first fry them in a frying pan.

You can diversify the taste with seasonal vegetables. It is good to use tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce peppers, and mushrooms. They must first be crushed and fried in vegetable oil until half cooked. Spices and herbs won't hurt either.
