A side dish for minced mashed potatoes (recipe below) is always very simple. Let's start preparing the meatballs. Place the minced meat and bread into a deep container (dip it in milk or water first), grate the cheese and add it to the minced meat along with the eggs. Add chopped herbs and spices to the meat. Knead thoroughly and form medium-sized balls.

Meatballs must be poured with tomato juice or tomato paste diluted in water and simmered together with chopped onion and garlic for about 50-60 minutes. The sauce should be quite thick (like sour cream). Add meatballs and sauce to mashed potatoes prepared according to the classic recipe. Sprinkle everything with herbs.

A side dish for minced mashed potatoes can be in the form of a casserole. To do this you will need 400-500 grams of minced pork, one medium onion, 150 grams of grated cheese, 450-500 ml of cream and 100 grams of butter, as well as 500 grams of ready-made mashed potatoes.

Fry the onion and minced meat in a frying pan. Place a layer of mashed potatoes (at least 1 cm in height) on a baking sheet, minced meat and onions on top. Sprinkle all this generously with cheese. The remaining cheese can be mixed with cream and poured over the pie 10-15 minutes before it is ready (this will make it juicier). The result is not exactly a side dish for mashed potatoes, but a complete dish.
