An indispensable condition for a tasty hot dog is fresh and high-quality ingredients.
Of course, the ideal option for a regular hot dog would be sausages prepared by yourself. However, this is a very energy-intensive process. Therefore, it is easier to buy them in the store, but you should choose only a fresh product. Sausages designed for grilling or frying over an open fire are well suited. They can also be boiled in boiling water, cooked at low temperature in a microwave oven, or fried in a regular frying pan or coals.
To ensure that the hot dog is not too high in calories, the sausages are fried without vegetable oil.
It’s also better to bake the buns yourself, because it’s not difficult at all. And experiments with refueling are welcome. Unusual options:
- Greek. Greek yogurt is mixed with garlic and chopped spinach.
- In Israeli. Chickpeas and sesame paste are spread on lettuce leaves and used instead of the traditional combination of ketchup and mayonnaise.
- In Ukrainian. The mixture consists of sour cream, mayonnaise and garlic.
- Mexican. The main ingredients are hot chili peppers, guacamole (avocado pulp, spices, lemon juice), canned beans.

- 3 chicken eggs;

- Break the eggs into a deep plate, being careful not to damage the yolk.

- After the mayonnaise has completely thickened, add lemon juice and stir the mixture again (at least 2 minutes).

You will need:
2 buns, 2 pieces of salted herring, spices, 1 red onion, 1 tsp.
sugar, a pinch of salt, 50 ml apple cider vinegar, dill, coriander, 2 tsp. mustard, 1 tbsp. sour cream, 1 egg. Preparation:
Roll the herring in coriander and marinate the onion in water and vinegar with dill for 15 minutes. Mix the yolk, mustard and sour cream until smooth. Cut the buns, brush with sauce, add onion rings, herring and onions again.

RUSSIAN HOT DOG RECIPE
You need: (for 2 servings) 2 hot dog buns 2 pork sausages 1 large potato 1 medium onion 1 small pickled cucumber vegetable oil - for frying
Mustard sauce: 2 tbsp. mustard 2 tsp. natural yoghurt 1 tsp. honey 1 clove of garlic salt, pepper - to taste
How to cook:
1. Cut the potatoes into strips and fry in 1 tbsp. vegetable oil.
2. Cut the hot dog bun in half, put the grilled sausage inside (barbecue, grill, regular frying pan - also suitable) sausage.
3. Add fried potatoes, sliced pickles and onions.
4. For the sauce, crush the garlic into a paste, mix all the ingredients and beat lightly with a fork.
5. Pour sauce over hot dog and serve.
Hot dog with crab sticks
For those who are not afraid to try something new, we suggest adding kiwi.
You will need:
2 buns, 5 crab sticks, 1 kiwi, 0.5 onions, 200 g of cheese, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard.
Preparation:
Finely chop the onion and crab sticks, grate the cheese, and mix everything together. Cut the kiwi into thin slices. Cut the buns, put a little kiwi, and top with crab sticks. Serve with sauces to taste.
Hot dog with chicken
You can safely take this hot dog with you on the road or on a picnic.
You will need:
2 buns, 1 chicken fillet, 4 tbsp.
breadcrumbs, herbs, zest, 1 egg, 100 g cheese, lettuce leaves, 150 g cherry tomatoes, 0.5 onions, 1 clove garlic, chili, 50 ml apple juice. Preparation:
Finely chop the tomatoes, onions and garlic, fry, add juice and simmer for 15 minutes under the lid. Cut the chicken, beat it, dip it in the egg and roll it in breadcrumbs with herbs and zest, and then fry it. Cut the buns and put lettuce leaves, thin slices of cheese, chicken pieces and sauce inside.
Hot dog in pita bread
A selection of homemade hot dogs wouldn’t be complete without this recipe!
You will need:
3 pita bread, 3 sausages, half a carrot, a third of Chinese cabbage, 1 cucumber, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard.
Preparation:
Finely chop the Chinese cabbage, grate the carrots and cut the cucumber into thin strips. Grease each pita bread with sauces to taste, place vegetables and sausage on top. Wrap the hot dog and fry it in a frying pan or heat it in the microwave if desired.

French hot dog at home
The French version of the hot dog is much simpler and more sophisticated. Remember about it if you want to prepare a snack quickly and tasty. Especially when the soul demands a holiday and refuses to eat regular food.
Compound:
- Hot dog buns – 2 pcs.
- Sausages – 4 pcs.
- Pickled cucumber (salted cucumber is acceptable) – 1 pc.
- Mayonnaise – 2 tablespoons.
- Mustard – 2 tablespoons.
- Ketchup - the same amount.
Optionally include red onion and tomato in the recipe.
How to do:
- Boil the sausages until cooked, removing the film. Can be fried on the grill or in a frying pan.
- Warm the buns in the microwave (a couple of minutes).
- Chop the pickled cucumber as finely as you can.
- Cut off the end of the bun. Carefully remove the center (you can, as in the first recipe, push it with a syringe).
- Combine the dressings for the sauce in a bowl. Pour some into the base of the loaf.
- Push the sliced cucumbers inside. If you decide to add tomatoes and onions, add them at this stage, after finely chopping them. But then it is better to cut the bun lengthwise.
- Add the sausage, pour the sauce on top and serve while the appetizer is still hot.
