The chickpeas should definitely be soaked in cold water, I do this in the evening, but 4-5 hours is enough. And we start preparing the soup by boiling the chickpeas until tender (about 40 minutes), periodically removing the foam.

I made another soup using exactly the same recipe, only I used peas instead of chickpeas. It turned out delicious, and with a completely different taste. Don't be afraid to experiment.

During this time, prepare the minced meat (I use beef). Chop the onion very finely, beat in the egg, salt and pepper. If desired, you can add dill.

We form balls with our hands. If the soup is cooked for 30 minutes, then you can add them to the broth along with the potatoes.

There is no way without frying in this recipe. But we will not grate the carrots, but cut them into small cubes, as well as the onion.

Fry in vegetable oil over low heat. Cut the bell pepper into small cubes and also add to the frying pan. For flavor, pass the garlic through a press and add to the pan with the vegetables. And at the end we also add tomato paste.

Let the vegetables simmer over low heat for 10 minutes with the lid closed. When ready, add the roast to the soup. Don't forget to add bay leaf and herbs.

Cut the garlic into small slices, then finely chop it and fry in vegetable oil. Cut the onion into cubes, turn the carrots into long thin strips.

Peel the potatoes and place in cold water. Add diced tomatoes to the frying. Fry the vegetable mixture for a few more minutes.

Add pureed onion to the minced meat. Sprinkle with salt and spices, divide the kneaded mass into balls.

In a separate container, mix the egg with salt and flour with a fork. Transfer the finished roast to the soup and add salt. Pour the meatballs into the pan, add the sweet pepper cut into 4 pieces.
