Lazy cabbage rolls in the oven with cabbage and minced meat: step-by-step recipes with photos

Good afternoon, my dear readers! Today I will cook healthy and very tasty lazy cabbage rolls in the oven. They are quick and easy to prepare. After all, we won’t roll the minced meat into cabbage leaves. We will chop the meat and cabbage and make juicy and tasty cutlets. And let the appearance of this dish be somewhat simple. But the taste is quite worthy of becoming a regular guest on our table.

The classic version involves adding a little boiled rice to the minced meat. However, my husband, for example, claims that you need to combine one thing with meat: either rice or cabbage. To each his own. Nothing bad will happen if your dish contains more of some product, and some not at all.

Stuffed cabbage rolls can be cooked in a frying pan or in a slow cooker. But the most amazing ones will undoubtedly come out in the oven. In addition, there is no pre-frying in a large amount of oil. This treat will delight all lovers of healthy and tasty food.

Here I have collected all my favorite versions of this popular second dish. They are all very tasty and quite simple to make. If desired, you can cook buckwheat or mashed potatoes as a side dish. And it’s best to eat this dish without any side dish at all, since half of it consists of cabbage and rice.

The calorie content of a serving is small - does not exceed 150 kilocalories per 100 grams. Anyone who wants to lose weight should pay attention to this. Of course, if you add less rice and more cabbage during cooking, its calorie content will be significantly reduced. If you are watching your weight, then it is better to take minced meat from lean meat.

Lazy cabbage rolls with cabbage and minced meat in the oven in tomato and sour cream sauce

The classic version of the dish involves minced cabbage, meat and rice. Fried onions and carrots are also added to it. However, no one will forbid us to cook without rice or carrots.

The specified product standards are not mandatory, choose according to your taste.

Most often, housewives prefer to take meat, rice and cabbage in equal proportions.

But, if you want a meatier dish, reduce the amount of rice and cabbage. A lower-calorie option means increasing the vegetable part.

What products to take:

  • Cabbage - 500 gr.
  • Rice cereal - half a cup
  • One onion
  • One medium carrot
  • Minced meat - 0.5 kg.
  • One egg

For the sauce:

  • Tomato paste - 2 tbsp. spoons or 4 fresh tomatoes
  • Onions - 1 pc.
  • Carrots - 1 pc. average
  • Sour cream - 150ml.
  • Water - 0.5 l.

Preparation:

1. You can take any kind of minced meat you like. I prepared a mixed one - from pork and beef. I put a saucepan of salted water on the stove. When it boils, add the cereal and boil until tender. I wash the finished rice again in a metal strainer under the tap. And you can let it stand for a while so that all the water drains away.

2. I put a quarter of a small head of cabbage in a colander and lower it into a pan of boiling water. Let it stand covered for 10-15 minutes. I take it out and let the water drain too.

3. Peel, wash and finely chop the onions. I grate the carrots, also peeled and washed, on a coarse grater. I won’t fry them, I add them raw to the minced meat.

If you want a richer taste, fry the vegetables in vegetable oil.

4. Drain the water from the cabbage and squeeze it lightly. The leaves have become soft and now I chop them as small and thin as possible. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.

5. Mix all the ingredients, add an egg, add spices and salt. I mix and get homogeneous minced meat.

6. You can make cutlets in any way you like. Traditionally, lazy cabbage rolls have an elongated shape, but you can also make them round, in the form of meatballs.

7. Place the semi-finished products in a heat-resistant form with high sides and pour the sauce over two-thirds of the height of the sides.

You can throw a couple of bay leaves and a few peppercorns into the gravy.

8. Place the baking sheet in a heated oven for 35 minutes. Temperature no more than two hundred degrees. You can cover the pan with a piece of foil so that the sauce evaporates less. But under no circumstances should you close it tightly. Otherwise it will boil over and crawl out from under the lid.

Preparing the sauce:

1. Chop the onion into smaller pieces.

2. Peel the carrots and grate them with a coarse grater.

3. Pour the vegetables into a heated frying pan and fry until soft.

4. Mix tomato paste with sour cream and beat well until the mass is homogeneous.

If the sour cream is very thick, be sure to dilute the sauce with water.

5. Pour the resulting mixture over the vegetables in the frying pan and stir. If necessary, add warm water to the required thickness.

Cooking time must be monitored by the position of the sauce. It shouldn't boil completely. If you see this situation happening, it is better to add a little water or broth to the pan. To ensure that the dish does not burn, you can put a layer of cabbage leaves on the bottom of the baking sheet. Eat for your health!

Delicious lazy cabbage rolls in the oven

Sometimes I’m too lazy to roll real cabbage rolls, and then I cook “sloth rolls”! There are different recipes for lazy cabbage rolls: in a saucepan, in a frying pan, in layers, but I like to cook lazy cabbage rolls in the oven, with sour cream, in the form of small cutlets.

Ingredients:

For cabbage rolls:

  • Minced beef, pork-beef or chicken – 0.5 kg;
  • Fresh cabbage - a third of a medium head of cabbage;
  • Rice – 2/3 cup;
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.;
  • Salt, pepper, herbs.

Gravy:

  • Carrots – 2-3 pcs.;
  • Onions - 1-2 pcs., and in the summer version you can take a bunch of green onions with heads;
  • Tomato paste – 1-2 tablespoons – or grate 2-3 fresh tomatoes;
  • Water - 0.5 cups;
  • Sour cream or cream - 1 cup.

How to deliciously cook lazy cabbage rolls in the oven:

  1. You can take the minced meat ready-made, it’s faster and easier. But it’s tastier and healthier to make minced meat.
  2. Wash the rice, add 1.5 cups of water and boil until almost fully cooked, so that it is almost soft.
  3. Finely chop the cabbage, and then you can further chop it by cutting long strips into 2-3 pieces. This is true for late cabbage, but young cabbage with its delicate leaves and without additional chopping is almost not felt in cabbage rolls.
  4. Salt the shredded cabbage, knead it with your hands, pour boiling water over it, cover and leave for 10-15 minutes until it becomes soft. For young tender cabbage, five minutes is enough.
  5. Then place the cabbage in a colander to drain the water.
  6. Combine the minced meat, boiled rice and cabbage, add salt and pepper and mix well.
  7. Add eggs and mix some more.
  8. It’s great to add a generous bunch of greens to summer cabbage rolls! Dill, parsley, green onion!
  9. Grease a baking sheet or oven dish with vegetable oil. We wet our hands in water, form small oblong cutlets and place them in rows in the mold.
  10. Drizzle each cabbage roll with sour cream or sour cream.
  11. Cook the lazy cabbage rolls in the oven at approximately 180C for half an hour. While the cabbage rolls are baking, let's prepare a delicious gravy for them!
  12. Fry chopped onion in vegetable oil in a frying pan.
  13. Then add grated carrots to the onion and continue sautéing, stirring.
  14. Add a couple of tablespoons of tomato or grated tomatoes, dilute slightly with water and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  15. Gravy for lazy cabbage rolls is ready!

We take out the mold and pour the sauce over the cabbage rolls, then put them in the oven again for 20-30 minutes. You can check readiness by carefully removing and tasting one cabbage roll.

These are very tasty lazy cabbage rolls, and if you serve them with cool sour cream or cream, they become even tastier!

Step-by-step recipe for cabbage rolls without frying, like in kindergarten

If your child went to kindergarten, then he probably asked you to make lazy cabbage rolls just like in kindergarten. This recipe is for all mothers and their little fidgets. Well, all dads like him too.

This dish is very convenient, because it contains not raw, but boiled meat, which significantly reduces the cooking time.

Minced meat composition:

  • White cabbage - 600 gr.
  • Boiled beef - 400 gr.
  • Rice - 5 tbsp. spoons
  • Tomato paste - 1 tbsp. spoon
  • One medium onion
  • Sunflower oil - 2 tbsp. spoons
  • Chicken eggs - 4 pcs.

Preparation:

1. Finely chop the onion into cubes. Pour into a thick-walled saucepan or deep saucepan and lightly fry in vegetable oil.

2. Add finely shredded cabbage strips and simmer, closing the lid. Reduce heat to medium.

There is no need to add any water or broth yet. The cabbage will soon release juice.

Stir occasionally to prevent the vegetables from burning. Add tomato paste, salt, spices and bay leaf to the vegetables. Continue to simmer until half cooked.

4. After 10 minutes, use a potato masher to compact the contents of the pan until juice appears on the surface.

5. Spread the washed round rice on the vegetables in an even layer and smooth it out.

No need to mix the ingredients yet!

6. Add about a glass of water to the pan so that it slightly covers the cereal. Close the lid and leave to simmer on low heat for another 15 minutes.

7. At this time, you can grind the boiled meat in a meat grinder. As for meat, I recommend taking beef. Especially for kids. Despite the fact that chicken breast is considered dietary, it should not be given to a small child. Chicken is very allergic.

8. Place the twisted meat in a pan with vegetables. Now mix everything thoroughly. Let it simmer for about 10 more minutes. Check the degree of readiness of the rice. If the cereal is still hard, you need to add a little water and simmer.

9. Boil and peel hard-boiled eggs. Cut them into small pieces. Then we send them to the pan with the finished dish and mix.

I would like to note that food in kindergartens complies with Soviet GOST standards, and is therefore balanced and healthy. It’s worth taking this recipe into service.

This dish is very tasty and nutritious. Both kids and adults will like it.

Lazy cabbage rolls with minced meat and rice in sour cream sauce

This is the recipe my mother always made. Why she didn't put tomatoes in the sauce, I don't know. But we always ate lazy cabbage rolls in sour cream. Very soft and delicate in taste.

My sour cream is homemade, quite rich and thick. So I'm going to add a lot of water to the sauce.

If you take sour cream from the store and it’s a bit runny, you don’t have to dilute it with water at all.

Product composition:

  • Minced beef - 0.5 kg.
  • Rice - 50 g dry cereal
  • Cabbage - 200 gr.
  • Sour cream - 150 ml.
  • Testicles - 3 pcs.
  • Onion - one medium
  • Carrot - 1 pc.
  • A small bunch of greenery
  • Salt, pepper and paprika - to taste
  • Water - 1.5 cups

How we will cook:

1. Since sour cream is quite fatty, it is better to choose dietary minced meat. I prefer beef. Salt and pepper the minced meat and mix with finely chopped onion. Immediately add the finely grated carrots there.

2. Boil the rice until cooked, rinse and place on a sieve. While the liquid is draining, let's work on the cabbage.

3. A quarter of the head of cabbage should be chopped into short strips and lightly mashed with your hands. In a large bowl, mix minced meat, rice and cabbage sticks. We break the eggs there. They serve as a good connecting element for all other components. I also chopped up some greens.

4. In this photo, ready-made cabbage rolls are already stuck on. Now you need to fry them in a heated frying pan on both sides until you get a tasty crust. I fry it directly in the frying pan in which I will bake it later. It is very comfortable.

5. Prepare the sauce: mix sour cream, flour, water and finely chopped herbs. Add salt, paprika, red and black pepper.

6. Pour sour cream sauce into the frying pan and place the dish in the oven, heated to 180 degrees. Since we have already fried the cabbage rolls, we only need them to boil for about five minutes.

A very appetizing and tender dish that turned out great! Invite all your family and guests to taste it!

  • Young cabbage - 1 head
  • Chicken egg, onion, carrots - 1 piece each
  • Rice – 120 grams
  • Bay leaf - 2 pieces

  • Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Black peppercorns - 5 pieces
  • Flour - 4 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Dill - 1 bunch
  • Salt, ground black pepper to taste

Preparation:

  1. We start with preparing the products. If your minced meat is ready, take it out of the freezer in advance. So that it has already melted and is soft. I recommend to my readers to prepare the minced meat themselves, it’s safer. Because you will be confident in the quality of the product.
  2. To save time, immediately set the rice to cook. Before doing this, rinse it well, do this several times. Pour water in a ratio of 1 to 1. Once the rice is cooked, rinse it as well. This is done to prevent lumps from forming.
  3. Next, peel the onions and carrots. Finely chop the onion and grate the carrots on a coarse grater. Take a frying pan and fry the chopped products in vegetable oil. Don’t forget to stir and fry until the onion is golden brown.
  4. You can have minced meat either pork or pork with beef or chicken.
  5. Let's start with the cabbage. We remove the top leaves, they are mostly damaged and dirty. Chop not too finely. Then press it with your hands.
  6. Now we need a deep bowl in which we will put our ingredients. Add minced meat, boiled rice, chopped onions, carrots and cabbage. We also season with salt and ground salt to taste. And so that the cabbage rolls keep their shape, we add a chicken egg for the bunch. Mix everything well
  7. Forming cabbage rolls. I make them more than traditional cutlets. Wet your hands with cold water. And coat the resulting cutlets in flour. The flour will additionally hold its shape so that they do not fall apart during stewing.
  8. Take a deep baking container. In our case, this is a deep glass bowl. Pack the cabbage rolls tightly. Now dissolve the tomato paste in boiling water. Salt a little and add sugar for taste. And pour the cabbage rolls with tomato sauce.
  9. You can use tomato juice instead of tomato paste.
  10. Throw in peppercorns, bay leaves and finely chopped garlic. Add chopped dill here. Place in the oven for 35 minutes, before which you need to preheat it to 180 degrees.
  11. Ready. Place on a plate. Decorate with greens. Can be served with sour cream.

Most of the time is spent preparing the products. Fast and tasty.
