Cookies Kisses - step-by-step recipes on how to make delicious homemade cookies

Posting in group: Baking

Recipes for fragrant and tender cottage cheese cookies, known under different names: “Kisses”, “Ears”, “Crow’s Feet” or “Shells”, come in different variants, but they are all distinguished by their simplicity and speed of preparation. And as the main ingredient, you can utilize stale cottage cheese by combining it with a minimum set of available products. In addition, this delicious homemade delicacy brings some benefits to children's health, as it saturates the body with calcium and promotes growth and strengthening of bones. And also a simple recipe can easily help out the hostess when guests unexpectedly arrive.

How to make cookies even tastier

Add crushed nuts to sugar. Any. It will be very tasty with walnuts. “Budget” peanuts will also add a “zest” to your baked goods. And I won’t say anything at all about hazelnuts and almonds. It will be simply amazing!

Vanilla. Add a little vanillin or vanilla sugar directly to the curd dough. Or mix with granulated sugar. And roll the cookies in this mixture.

Instead of vanilla, you can use another spice. For example, cinnamon. The curd cookies will acquire a spicy aroma and a special taste.

Grate a small sweet and sour apple on a fine grater. I'll add it during the test notation. You will like the apple-curd cookies “Kisses” even more. Verified.

You can also add raisins to the dough. Just not too big. It will make your baked goods even sweeter and more delicious.

Candied fruits will also help diversify the taste of the delicacy. Chop them finely and add them to the dough.

Have you already boiled the kettle? No? Hurry up and place it!

How to cook with yeast

Live yeast in shortbread cookies adds more airiness and tenderness to the products, and a large amount of fat makes the dough soft and pliable to work with. The composition of shortcrust pastry with the addition of yeast includes:

  • 200 g margarine or butter;
  • 100 g full-fat mayonnaise;
  • 1 large chicken egg;
  • 7 g dry instant yeast;
  • 300 g flour;
  • sugar for sprinkling the cookies while shaping.

Sequence of actions:

  1. Melt the margarine in a microwave or on gas, let it cool to a temperature that is not dangerous for the yeast, and mix with mayonnaise.
  2. Dissolve the yeast in the mayonnaise-margarine mixture and leave for five minutes to activate it. Then add flour and knead into a plastic dough.
  3. Form the products in the same way as “Kisses” with cottage cheese, sprinkling each circle with sugar. The conditions for heat treatment of baked goods are the same as in the previous recipe.
  4. Instead of sugar, when forming cookies, you can grease the circles on the folds with thick jam, boiled condensed milk or chocolate ganache. It will turn out just as delicious.

Method for making cottage cheese cookies Kisses

-1-

Remove the unsalted butter (or creamy margarine) 20-30 minutes before you start preparing the cookies. To have time to soften. If the cottage cheese is grainy, rub through a metal sieve. You can immediately prepare dough from cottage cheese with a creamy texture. Place it and the soft butter in a deep bowl.

-2-

Mash with a fork. You will get a soft homogeneous mass. As in the photo.

-3-

Add sifted flour. I didn't add any baking powder or slaked soda. The “Kisses” cookies turned out airy and tasty. But if you really want, you can add a little, literally half a teaspoon of baking powder. It will bind the casein contained in cottage cheese. This does not affect the taste of baked goods, but helps the body process fermented milk products. I always use this technique when it comes to cottage cheese baking. Especially when I bake cottage cheese pancakes, you can see their step-by-step recipe with photos.

-4-

Start kneading the curd dough for the Kisses cookies. Mix the ingredients with a spoon. Then start kneading with your hands. The dough will be soft and pleasant to the touch. It shouldn't stick to your hands. But if it sticks, add a little more flour. Do not knead for too long to prevent the cookies from becoming hard.

-5-

Roll out the dough into a thin (about 3 mm thick) layer. Don't forget to flour your work surface. Using a regular glass, cut out cookie circles.

-6-

Pour granulated sugar into a flat plate. Roll the curd circles in sugar. At both sides.

-7-

Fold the workpiece in half.

-8-

And again in half to make a “kiss”, as in the photo.

-9-

Cover the baking sheet with paper. Or grease with oil. Lay out the curd mixtures. By this time, the oven should be turned on and preheated to 180 degrees. Cook the baked goods at this temperature for about half an hour. The cookies should be golden on top and well baked inside.

-10-

Place the finished baked goods in the most beautiful plate or candy dish. It is advisable to do this before it completely cools down. During baking, caramel will form, which can firmly seal the curd “kisses” to the paper. And cottage cheese and paper, as you know, do not go well together.

With milk

You can prepare equally aromatic crumbly “Kisses” cookies without cottage cheese by kneading soft dough with yeast and milk.

Composition of ingredients

For this version of a sweet dessert you will need the following ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp. sifted wheat flour;
  • 200 g butter margarine for baking;
  • 150 ml warm milk;
  • 8 g quick dry yeast;
  • 1 tbsp. l. granulated sugar for dough;
  • 50 g sugar with ground cinnamon for filling;
  • 1 tbsp. l. powdered sugar for sprinkling;
  • 1 pinch of salt.

Step-by-step cooking process

Preparation of the dough according to this recipe differs from the classic version:

  1. First, you will need to dilute the dry yeast with granulated sugar in warm milk and leave it in a warm place away from drafts, covering the cup with a clean towel.

  2. In a separate deep bowl, you need to combine some of the sifted wheat flour with salt and softened margarine, chop with a knife, and then rub with your hands until smooth, buttery crumbs.
  3. After this, pour the prepared dough into the bowl, stir until smooth, and then gradually add the remaining flour to form an elastic, soft dough.
  4. The entire resulting mass should be divided into small equal portions using a sharp knife and rolled into balls the size of a walnut.
  5. Now each ball needs to be rolled out into an even circle, 5-7 mm thick, dipped one side into a plate with granulated sugar and ground cinnamon, and then fold the halves inward with the sweet side. Repeat the procedure again, folding each half with sugar in half again to form the desired triangular shape.
  6. Then you can place the kisses on a baking sheet lined with parchment, keeping the required distance between the products so that they fit a little, and leave for 25 minutes. in a warm place.
  7. After this, place the baking sheet in a hot oven and bake the cookies at 190 degrees for about half an hour.

Now the cookies must be carefully removed from the baking sheet and placed on a dry, clean cloth, and covered with it on top so that the baked goods can rest a little.

What can I add?

You can sprinkle granulated sugar on the top of the product before placing it in the oven, then you do not need to decorate the finished dish, but serve it immediately.

How to serve a dish

Cooled cookies can be decorated with powdered sugar, to which ground cinnamon can be added for additional color and flavor. To prepare cookies, you need to remove butter or margarine from the refrigerator in advance so that you can easily grind the cottage cheese with it. It is advisable to take all the ingredients for kneading a soft, tender dough at the same room temperature. It is better to sift the flour first, you can even do it several times, this way it is enriched with oxygen, and the baked goods are more airy and lighter. It is advisable to mix soda or baking powder with dry sifted flour, and only then add it to the dough, so all the ingredients will be distributed more evenly.

You can knead the dough either manually or using a food processor or blender, and then it is advisable to keep it in a cold place so that the layers in the finished cookies are more pronounced. If the cookies do not fit completely on one baking sheet, then before forming the next batch, it is also advisable to put the dough in the refrigerator.

Cottage cheese cookies according to the classic recipe do not need to be decorated with anything; melted caramel sugar on the surface is enough, but if desired, you can sprinkle the top of the “kiss” with ground cinnamon, citrus zest, powdered sugar with cocoa powder or grated chocolate.

Classic version

When you decide to prepare a cottage cheese treat for your loved ones, stock up on the ingredients the recipe requires:

  • 0.25 kg flour;
  • a pack of margarine;
  • 0.25 kg cottage cheese;
  • sugar (1 cup);
  • soda (0.5 teaspoon).

Recipe:

  1. To make soft and tender “Kisses”, you should first soften the margarine.
  2. Grind the margarine and cottage cheese until the mixture is lump-free.
  3. Add flour and soda, mix thoroughly. Attention! Don't put sugar in cottage cheese cookies!

Now we form “kisses”. From a common piece of dough, pinch off small pieces the size of a walnut and roll them into balls. Then roll out small circles, as for dumplings. Dip one side of the circle into sugar and fold it in half so that the sugar is inside. At the first stage, you should get a semicircle. Then again dip one side of the semicircle into sugar and fold it in half. We get a triangle, as in the photo. Dip one side of the “kisses” into sugar and place the clean side on a baking sheet in an oven preheated to 200 degrees. Bake for 20-30 minutes.

Dough with added eggs

To make cottage cheese cookies, you can use another recipe. It differs from the previous one in that eggs are laid on it. You will need the following ingredients:

  • half a kilogram of cottage cheese;
  • two eggs;
  • sugar (1 cup);
  • a pack of margarine;
  • a little soda;
  • three glasses of flour.

Recipe:

  1. We start making cottage cheese cookies by thoroughly grinding the eggs with cottage cheese to form a homogeneous mixture.
  2. Then add flour, softened margarine (not melted!), soda and sugar.
  3. Knead the dough and cut it into pieces. To do this, you can use the method that is used when making dumplings.
  4. Roll out each piece to form a circle.
  5. As the previous recipe shows, dip the circles in sugar and fold them in half. Then dip again and form a triangle.
  6. Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil and lay out the “kisses”, sprinkling them with sugar on one side.
  7. Bake for half an hour in an oven preheated to 200 degrees so that the curd cookies acquire a pink color, as in the photo.

Nuances of a masterpiece

The first and second recipes are basic for preparing this dessert. However, when making cottage cheese cookies, some proportions can be changed as desired. For example, instead of 2 eggs it is allowed to add one, instead of a full egg - only white, etc. Also, instead of regular store-bought cottage cheese, curd mass or stale baby cheese is perfect. “Kisses” will not fundamentally change their taste.

Everyone can also choose the molding recipe at their own discretion. Some people find it more convenient to first make balls or pieces and then roll them out to make circles. Other housewives roll out the dough into a thick layer, and then cut out circles with a glass. Thanks to this method, the shapes acquire smooth edges and the same size. The only thing to take into account is that the dough rolls out rather poorly and can tear.

Leaving the dough composition unchanged, the curd cookies can be shaped differently. To do this, the workpiece must first be placed in the refrigerator for half an hour, and then rolled out into a thin layer. Brush with egg white and roll into a roll. Then cut the dough into rose-shaped pieces. Bake with whipped egg white. At its core, cottage cheese cookies remain the same, but the shape becomes more interesting.

The color of the finished product can be varied depending on the time it spends in the oven. If you don't like a light crust, it will be enough to keep the molds in the oven for 20 minutes. Spices and additives will help add variety to the taste. The recipe can be varied by mixing the dipping sugar with cinnamon or nuts. Walnuts or ground hazelnuts can be added to the dough: it will acquire a rich taste.

It is also easy to prepare a snack for the main table from cottage cheese dough without added sugar. To do this, you need to exclude sugar from the recipe, and also do not dip the cookies in it. Instead, make a layer of the remaining cottage cheese with herbs or add salt to the dough. Thus, at the owner’s request, cookies can become a delicious snack. Same with dessert for tea.

Why "kisses"?

The treat can be given any shape. The generally accepted one - “kisses” - got its name from the shape of a cookie, similar to lips folded into a tube when kissing. If you want to have a romantic date, a dessert theme will be perfect. It is best to serve the delicacy hot with coffee or tea.

With mayonnaise

This cookie dough is well known to housewives who are happy owners of old Soviet syringes for forming curly shapes, since such a recipe came complete with the device.

And even though it’s not fashionable now to cook with mayonnaise, and not everyone has such a culinary syringe, but if you bake tender “Kisses” with mayonnaise, they will become a favorite delicacy of adults and children. For the test you will need:

  • 1 egg;
  • 180 g sugar;
  • 200 g of Provencal mayonnaise;
  • 200 g butter at room temperature;
  • 10 g vanilla sugar;
  • 3.5 g salt;
  • 7 g baking powder or baking powder;
  • 300 g flour.

Baking algorithm:

  1. Shake the flour together with baking powder and set the resulting loose mixture aside. Combine the remaining ingredients in a suitable container and beat until smooth.
  2. Mix the bulk and liquid components of the dough until a smooth mass is obtained, which is then transferred to a pastry bag with a shaped nozzle. Place the products on a greased baking sheet at a respectful distance from each other (1-3 cm)
  3. To prevent the baked goods from spreading on the sheet, you can keep it directly on the sheet for a while in the refrigerator, but in any case, place it in a well-heated oven (200-220 degrees). The delicate golden hue of the baked goods is a signal of its readiness.

Kisses without cottage cheese

Adding semolina to the bulk dough will not surprise anyone. Almost every novice housewife knows the “Mannik” recipe in its different variations. But this ingredient can also be found in gentle “Kisses”:

  • 130 g semolina;
  • 100 g granulated sugar;
  • 1 egg;
  • 80 g butter;
  • 30-50 g sour cream;
  • 2.5 g vanillin;
  • 10 g baking powder;

  • sugar or thick jam for molding.

Progress:

  1. Mix flour with semolina, sugar and baking powder. Add soft butter to this mixture, knead it thoroughly, then beat in the egg and stir.
  2. Add sour cream to the dough last. You need just enough for the dough to form a bun. Place the dough in the cold for 20 minutes to stabilize.
  3. You can form cookies as in the classic recipe for curd “Kisses” or roll the dough into a sausage, which is divided into 20-24 pieces. Roll each piece of dough into a ball, place it on a greased baking sheet, press a hole in the center with your finger, pour jam into the hole.
  4. Before being ready, the products must be browned in the oven for 15 minutes at 200°C.

  1. In a deep bowl, grind softened creamy margarine with cottage cheese using a fork or blender, then gradually add sifted flour with salt and granulated sugar.

  2. Then the dough should be allowed to stand in a cold place for about 1 hour.
  3. The marmalade must be cut into thin narrow strips.
  4. After this, the entire mass should be divided into 2 equal parts, rolled out into a thin round layer, and coated with beaten egg white.
  5. Now the circle needs to be divided and cut into 8 equal segments, place marmalade sticks on the wide part of each of them and roll them into a tube towards the narrow end.
  6. The formed bagels should be placed on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, each one should be brushed with egg yolk using a soft brush to give the cookies a beautiful ruddy hue.
  7. The curd dessert should be baked in a preheated oven until the product is golden brown, then the bagels should be removed from the baking sheet and cooled completely.

You can add a pinch of vanilla powder or a drop of extract to the dough for additional flavor.

How to serve a dish

The finished cookies need to be cooled slightly, sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon or cocoa powder.

Recipe Cookies Kiss

Preparing these cookies will take you a minimum of ingredients and time. For it, it is enough to have ready-made yeast-free puff pastry. I always have a package of this in the refrigerator. Very helpful when you need to quickly prepare baked goods. We take the dough out of the freezer in advance and let it thaw. I would like to note right away: there is no need to defrost the dough too much, then it becomes sticky and difficult to prepare.

For these cookies, you can use any of your favorite nuts or mixtures of them. I took a mixture of almonds and walnuts.

We weigh the sugar.

Take a cold egg and separate the white from the yolk.

Beat the egg whites until foamy and add vanillin.

Next, gradually begin to add sugar, continuing to beat. My youngest son helped me, since there is no mixer with a fixed bowl. Beat until foamy.

Fry the nuts a little in a frying pan and grind with a blender into coarse crumbs. Add nuts to the whites whipped with sugar.

Mix.

Next, take the already thawed dough and roll it out a little. I didn't even need to add flour, it rolled out without any problems. I used a recess with a diameter of 8.5 cm. You can take a mug or bowl. The diameter can vary from 8 to 10 cm. Cut out circles of dough.

Spoon one teaspoon of whipped egg white with nuts onto each circle of dough.

We seal our circle like a dumpling, but not too much, it should open during the baking process.

Place the cookies ready for baking on a baking sheet covered with baking paper. Next, spread the yolk with a brush. Place in an oven preheated to 190 degrees.

Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown. From this amount I got 15 cookies.

Give your loved ones pleasant moments!

And some lyrics.

When you don’t need extra words, There are many of them, but all of them are not the same, To express Love with them. In the everyday bustle, At least to the brim, at least over the edge You are not enough for me, Choose without hesitation... Everything was decided for us a long time ago...

When there is no need for extra words, I touch your lips, barely breathing. And without a safety net I fall into Love, And the Soul drowns in unreality... When no more words are needed, Close your eyes, we are with eternity. The stones of the shores are sharper than a razor, And only Love can save the Soul...

When no extra words are needed. Again my paths to you... At the silver of my native temples, all the words become smaller. Forgive me!... And after drinking the wine of tenderness, my head is spinning with happiness. One touch will tell us more than words...

From puff pastry

Ready-made puff pastry can also be used to bake homemade cookies, using the classic recipe as a basis for shaping the products. But if the dough doesn’t need to be prepared (it’s easier to buy it in the store), then why not put a little effort into making the “Kisses” more interesting and tastier. For original cookies made from ready-made puff pastry, you should prepare:

  • 400 g of ready-made yeast-free puff pastry;
  • 2 squirrels;
  • 1 yolk;
  • 150 g of any nuts (to taste);
  • 150 g sugar;
  • 8 g vanilla sugar.

Cooking process

Leave the butter on the counter, let it warm and soften (no need to melt it in the microwave!).

Mash the cottage cheese with a fork, spoon or mixer at low speed with butter. Add banana, mash it separately in a cup. Mix all ingredients.

Add soda to the mixture and stir. Next, add wheat flour in portions and knead the curd dough.

We put the bun in a bag (or leave it in a bowl, covering it with film or a plate) and put it in the refrigerator for about half an hour.

Roll out the rested dough with a rolling pin on a work surface dusted with flour. The thickness of the cookie layer is 5 millimeters. All that remains is to cut out round cakes from it. You can quickly and easily squeeze out mugs using a regular glass. If you have round shapes with beautiful teeth on your farm, you can use them.

Pour sugar into a plate and roll each cookie in it on both sides.

Fold the circle in half

then again, you get a layered curd triangle.

We line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and lay out our sugar buns one by one. While we are preparing the cookies, preheat the oven. From the indicated proportions you get a large baking sheet of buns - kisses.

Next, place the sheet in an oven preheated to 180 degrees and bake for about half an hour, focusing on the rosy color. Bananas make very fragrant buns! And the smell in the house is, well, simply magical!

Children love these cookies very much. You can’t feel the cottage cheese in baked goods at all, even if you didn’t grind it through a sieve or grind it in a blender until it becomes a homogeneous cream. A few cookies, a glass of milk or a bottle of Aktimelka - this is your children's breakfast or afternoon snack!

We don't add sugar at all to the dough, but the cookies turn out sweet due to the fact that we roll them in it. White granulated sugar can be replaced with brown sugar, which has a light caramel aroma and taste.

By the way, banana puree can be omitted. Poppy or sesame will add variety to the taste and appearance; you can sprinkle them on the top layer. But cinnamon or citrus zest can be used to flavor the cottage cheese dough itself when kneading. There are a lot of options.

Serve with hot tea or milk, whichever you prefer. Bon appetit!

Svetlana Kislovskaya sent us a recipe and photo of these wonderful curd buns in her Notebook, and all you have to do is run to the kitchen and start preparing them.

Best regards, Anyuta.

Important additions to the recipe

  • IMPORTANT!
    I've been baking these cookies for a long time. All my friends and relatives like it. The recipe is presented correctly. But cottage cheese can be completely different, so you need to focus on your tactile sensations. You need to add enough flour so that the dough does not stick to your hands. © (from comments below)
  • Important!
    Everything worked out (but with a pinch of slaked soda :) I was playing it safe)) © (from the comments below) + Instead of a pinch of soda, you can take 0.25 tsp. baking powder and add to flour.

Recipe with meringue

The word “meringue” is translated from French as kiss, so it is not surprising that there is a recipe for “Kisses” based on meringue. They can be brightly colored when dyes are added to the proteins, or with a subtle chocolate aftertaste, as in this recipe:

  • 2 squirrels;
  • 2 g salt;
  • 100 g powdered sugar;
  • 30 g cocoa powder;
  • 50 g dark chocolate.

How to make homemade cookies:

  1. In a clean bowl, degreased with lemon juice, beat the whites with a pinch of salt until soft peaks form, then add powder in small portions and beat the mixture until glossy. Its density should be such that when turning the bowl over, it does not fall out of it.
  2. Grate the chocolate on the finest grater. Sift the cocoa through a strainer onto the whipped whites, add the grated chocolate and mix gently from bottom to top.
  3. Using a pastry bag or two teaspoons, pipe rounds onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake the meringues for 18-20 minutes at 150 degrees until they become crispy on the outside but soft on the inside.
  4. If desired, airy chocolate clouds can be glued in pairs with melted chocolate, jam, boiled condensed milk or thick cream.

On kefir

Cottage cheese kisses, a recipe for making a delicacy with kefir, remains fresh for a very long time; you can bake it in advance in large quantities, as it does not go stale.

Preparation next.

Composition of ingredients

For this version of healthy homemade baking, you will need a set of the following ingredients:

  • 150 g of medium fat cottage cheese;
  • 350 g sifted wheat flour;
  • 100 ml kefir;
  • 50 g butter margarine or butter;
  • 1 raw chicken egg;
  • 1 tsp. baking powder;
  • 50-70 g granulated sugar;
  • 1 pinch of salt.

Step-by-step cooking process

The preparation of these cookies is simple:

  1. In a deep bowl, combine the cottage cheese with butter and salt, then add the raw egg and kefir, thoroughly grind all the ingredients with a fork or immersion blender until smooth.
  2. The sifted wheat flour should be combined with baking powder, mixed, and then mixed into the curd mass in small portions to obtain a soft, delicate consistency.
  3. Then you need to cover the prepared dough with plastic wrap and put it in a cool place for about half an hour.
  4. After this, you can roll out thin layers and cut them into round shaped succulents. From each piece, form a triangular cookie with a layer of sugar inside and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
  5. Bake the curd kisses in a preheated oven for half an hour.

How to serve a dish

The finished dish should be cooled slightly and served immediately with milk, tea or coffee, garnishing the dish with ground cinnamon.

Useful tips

If the squirrels don’t want to “get up,” you can add a couple of drops of lemon juice, a pinch of salt or a little powdered sugar. One of these components will definitely help the proteins.

In order for the whites to whip well, they must be cold. Ideally, even the mixing bowl should stay in the freezer. That is, a whisk and a bowl. In addition, you need to keep the bowl clean. It must be dry and under no circumstances should there be any residues of other products in it.

In any recipe, you can replace baking soda with baking powder. But in this case there is no need to extinguish it with vinegar.

To make the Kisses cookies look as delicious as possible, you can sprinkle them with powdered sugar/cocoa/grated chocolate when they have cooled, or decorate them with fresh mint leaves.

If you end up with a whole baking sheet filled and there is still dough left, it is better to put the leftovers in the refrigerator and continue only when the baking sheet is empty.

Preparing such cookies will not take you much time, and the portion will be quite enough for a large family. Prepare it at your leisure, you won't regret it. It's delicious and incredibly simple!

Classic cookies Kisses made from cottage cheese

Curd cookies “Kisses” in their finished form resemble plump lips folded into a bow. The taste of the baked goods is crumbly and very tender, like a kiss from a loved one. For this dessert you need to take:

  • 200 g cottage cheese;
  • 75 g soft butter;
  • 160 g flour;
  • 5 g of soda, slaked with vinegar or lemon juice;
  • sugar for sprinkling.

Step by step baking:

  1. To achieve maximum tenderness, it is necessary that there are no curd lumps left in the dough, so it is better to rub the fermented milk product through a sieve.
  2. Place creamy butter into a container with prepared cottage cheese and mash everything thoroughly with a fork or potato masher. Add slaked soda, sift flour on top.
  3. Mix everything and gather the dough into a ball. To make it easier to work with the mixture, cover it with a damp towel and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour.
  4. Roll out the dough, stabilized in the cold, into a layer of 3-5 mm on a table dusted with flour and cut out mugs from it using a thin-walled glass. Sprinkle each round piece with sugar on top and fold in half, sugar again and fold.
  5. Sprinkle the cups folded in four with sugar crystals on top and place on an oiled baking sheet. Bake “Kisses” at 180 degrees until a delicate golden color.

Where did the name come from?

Where did this name come from or why is your favorite cookie called that? Well, there are only two options and each of them can be considered quite logical and correct.

According to the first version, the cookies were named this way because in their finished form they are very similar to lips. That is, on the lips in anticipation of a kiss. The so-called “bow sponges”.

The second option is also close. It says that the cookies got their name because of the process of their preparation. Like, when you fold a circle, the two halves fold together to form lips. Then they fold again and again look like lush sponges.

Each of the options fits the name. So, which one is correct is up to you to decide. Choose the one that is closest to you.
