How to make Americano cookies with chocolate

Home baking is prized for the high quality ingredients used in the recipe. Thanks to this, the dessert is not only tasty, but also safe for health. Homemade Americano cookies will be in no way inferior in taste to store-bought products if you follow all the recommendations.

The recipe for American Cookies was the result of a culinary mistake. Ruth Wakefield, who is credited with inventing this dessert, broke the cooking technology by adding pieces of chocolate to the cake. The slices didn't melt in the oven. Thanks to this, baking became unusual and became widespread.


Before you prepare American cookies according to the classic recipe, you will need to purchase the following products:

  • flour – 225-240 g;
  • soda - a pinch;
  • brown sugar – 200 g;
  • butter – 100 g;
  • vanilla extract;
  • 2 eggs;
  • chocolate bar.

Due to the fact that the dessert cooks quickly, you should turn on the oven before kneading the dough. The temperature adjustment roller should be turned and set to +180°C.

Sift the flour into a bowl and add a pinch of soda, and then mix the ingredients. In another bowl, combine soft butter and brown sugar. Using a mixer, begin to beat the products at medium speed. When the contents become white (creamy) and fluffy, add vanillin, salt and eggs. Reduce the mixer speed to low and continue beating for about 2 minutes. Pour flour into the resulting homogeneous mass, to which soda was previously added. The last component introduced into the dough is chocolate. The tiles need to be chopped into small pieces.

The formation of cookies begins after all the components are evenly distributed in the dough. To reduce the risk of baked goods sticking, line the baking sheet with parchment paper and then grease it with vegetable oil.

Place homemade cookies in the oven for 8-10 minutes. During the cooking process, its top layer will dry out, but the inside of the dessert will remain soft. When the time is up, the cookies are removed from the oven, but transferred to a wire rack only after 1-2 minutes. When the baked goods have cooled completely, you can put them on a plate.

A very simple, classic American “pour, mix and bake” recipe. I made American chocolate chip cookies for the first time, and the cookies turned out very filling. I immediately make a note to myself that next time American cookies need to be made at least half the size, otherwise you will eat one of these cookies and it will be like having dinner twice!
