Cooking at home

To make corn sticks at home, you will need an extruder, which adds porosity and airiness. You can create a similar dessert at home

. For this you will need:

  • 100 ml milk;
  • 70 grams of butter;
  • 150 grams of corn flour;
  • salt;
  • vegetable oil.
  1. Sift cornmeal.
  2. Pour milk into a saucepan, add butter. Boil.
  3. After the milk boils, gradually add corn flour, stirring constantly. Once you have a thick mixture, turn off the heat and wait for the paste to cool.
  4. Add a pinch of salt, two eggs and mix until smooth.
  5. Place the dough into a syringe and squeeze out into the desired shape. This process is carried out on a tray with cling film, which is then placed in the oven. To avoid having to tear off the sticks, lightly coat the film with vegetable oil.
  6. Cook in the oven for 25 minutes at 180 degrees.

In addition to salt, you can add vanillin, sugar or some kind of taste absorbers.

However, if you really want to make your product look like a store-bought product, you will have to purchase a UKPO mini-extruder. Working with it is very simple: you need to pour corn flour into the funnel of the device, and ready-made dry sticks come out of the holes, similar to those of a meat grinder. All you have to do is cover them with glaze and eat them.

Dessert made from corn sticks and toffee. Corn sticks with toffee – a recipe from childhood

Hello everyone! Do you remember, once in childhood, my mother prepared an unusual, but very simple dessert - a delicious sweet sausage made from corn sticks? Well, let’s prepare corn sticks with toffee for our children and at the same time remember our favorite taste from childhood.

Corn sticks with toffee

I’ll admit right away that it’s been a long time since I last prepared this sweet dessert. Therefore, I will describe all the nuances that may emerge during preparation and that I encountered.

Some recipes strongly recommend using thick-walled dishes to prepare sweet sausage - nonsense, I took an ordinary iron bowl and cooked it in it.

They say that you need to melt it in a water bath. I tried it, but after half an hour, when the process did not budge, I moved the bowl to open, but not high heat, and changes immediately appeared - the toffee began to melt. It's possible to do it faster.

Perhaps you can melt the candies in a water bath, but then you need to buy them correctly. Personally, I bought these semi-solid toffees:

But when I started cooking, I realized that the candies were far from semi-solid and while they were in the store, they managed to get stale. So, you need to take either soft or fresh toffees (soft, semi-hard or hard to choose from).

Previously, in Soviet times, small corn sticks were sold and it was very easy to form a sweet sausage from them. Now the sticks are very large and in order to take on a more or less desired shape they will have to be cut, like this:

Or just buy corn sticks in the form of balls.

And don't ever wrap your toffee corn pops in parchment paper like I do. You will be tortured to pick it off. The process of removing the paper will take almost as much time as cooking the sausage itself.

It seems like she warned me about everything. Then let's get started.

To make toffee corn sticks, buy:

  • 75 Corn sticks;
  • The same amount of butter;
  • 400g. Butterscotch.

How to make toffee corn sticks

Place a bowl over low heat and melt the butter in it.

Add the toffee and let it melt. Don't pay attention to the fact that the butter floats on its own, and the candy floats on its own. When they melt, the mass will become homogeneous.

If, however, you come across very refractory candies, like mine, then you will need to add a little (30 ml) hot water to the bowl one or two times during the process. Don't worry, it will evaporate.

Stir our caramel periodically. The candies should be completely melted.

Without turning off or removing the bowl from the heat, add corn sticks in portions.

Mix well.

Spread out the cellophane. Place the dessert on it in a strip. I divided it into 2 servings.

Roll up. Give the sausage a more even shape and lightly press it. Place in the refrigerator to cool.

After an hour, or maybe earlier, we take it out, unwrap it, cut the corn sticks with toffee, and serve it with tea.

As they say: the need for invention is tricky, but the dessert is simply wonderful. What can we say about children, if I myself ground one portion with tea and didn’t notice. And if you cook, the children will also be happy.

A little history

The sticks originated from cornflakes . The interesting thing is that the discovery of the latter happened completely by accident. Practical American doctors used excessive supplies of maize flour to prepare porridge for patients. However, instead of porridge, they got cereal, which unexpectedly became popular. To turn flakes into sticks, there was not enough technology that could create sudden temperature changes.

After World War II, food production began to grow rapidly. This was due to the widespread introduction of extrusion into the food industry. In the Soviet state, due to the ease of manufacture, this product began to become widespread.

Many cooperatives have begun to come up with options that vary in shape, color and taste. The technology of creation was brought to perfection.

Dessert made from corn sticks and condensed milk. Dessert of corn sticks with condensed milk and

Corn sticks, boiled condensed milk and marmalade... It would seem that these three sweets are already quite enough to please those with a sweet tooth. But, believe me, by combining them in one dessert, you can pleasantly surprise everyone: such a delicacy looks very appetizing, and the taste will satisfy every gourmet - I have a sweet tooth.

Required ingredients:

  • 150 g corn sticks
  • 400 ml boiled condensed milk
  • 100 g butter
  • 50-70 g marmalade
  • 100 g walnuts

Cooking method

Grind the corn sticks: into 2-3 parts each. For this dessert, you can also use corn sticks with different fillings - milk flavored, with icing, for example.

Grind the walnuts using a blender or rolling pin (you should not turn the walnuts into flour, you should get a fairly large crumb). In addition to walnuts, any other nuts will do.

Cut the marmalade into small pieces. Marmalade in this dessert plays a double role: it dilutes the taste of sweet sticks and condensed milk and gives it a beautiful appearance. Therefore, try to buy colorful candies.

Melt the boiled condensed milk and butter and stir to obtain a homogeneous mass.

Add marmalade and the still hot milk-butter mixture to the corn sticks.

Stir, but only carefully - the mass may be hot! When it has cooled slightly, stir with your hands, lightly pressing the sticks.

Form a “loaf” from the sticks, pressing it tightly (this is easier to do with cling film).

Roll the resulting “loaf” in chopped nuts.

Wrap it tightly in cling film (or foil) and place it in the freezer for 40 minutes.

Cut the frozen dessert crosswise into small pieces and try how delicious it turns out!

Who should limit consumption?

There are a number of categories of people who should limit their consumption of corn sticks or avoid them altogether:

  1. Children under one year old. Older children can be given a sweet treat covered in powdered sugar as a dessert, but sticks with artificial flavors should be avoided altogether.
  2. Nursing mothers, since babies may experience allergic reactions or flatulence.
  3. People with diabetes, gastrointestinal diseases, obesity, especially during exacerbation.

Bags of corn pops grab our kids' attention the same way they once grabbed ours when we were kids. But soon satiety sets in, and it happens that another half a bag of corn sticks is thrown onto the shelf in the kitchen, where they humbly await their time to be eaten. However, you can make an unusual dessert from them, and today you will learn how to do it.

Chocolate chak-chak with toffee

Ingredients:

  • A package of corn sticks – 200-300 gr.
  • Medium hard toffee – 400 gr. (“Kiss-Kiss” or analogues).
  • Black chocolate – 80-100g. (1 tile).
  • Butter – 100 gr. (from 72.5%, natural).

Recipe:

  1. In a saucepan with a thick bottom, place the butter cut into cubes, toffee and chocolate broken into pieces. If you don’t have a thick-bottomed pan at hand, then in this case it is better to make a water bath.
  2. Place the pan on low heat or in a water bath. Stirring constantly, wait until the butter and chocolate melt and the toffee dissolves.
  3. Once the mixture has become homogeneous, turn off the heat and stir for another couple of minutes to allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  4. Take the sticks out of the bag and place them in a large bowl.
  5. Pour the resulting mixture over the sticks and mix quickly and thoroughly so that the mixture is distributed over all the sticks.
  6. Immediately place the sticks on a plate in the form of a slide or form several spherical cakes from them.
  7. Place the resulting dessert in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.

This dessert is actually incredibly easy to prepare. But this isn't the only recipe that uses this crunchy treat. Another preparation option is also simple, but the resulting dessert will taste and look completely different from the sweets of the previous recipe.
