How to cut a beautiful number 1 from paper and dough: tips

To make a number from cake layers, you first need to cut out a stencil from paper. You can print this number on A4 paper and cut out the unit so that you can then transfer the number onto the cakes.

Unit

Tips on how to cut out numbers on finished cakes:

  • Bake the cakes into rectangular shapes . This will make it convenient to cut out the unit.
  • It is easy to cut out a unit on soft sponge cakes . Just place the paper stencil on the finished cooled cake and trim off the excess with a knife.
  • If the dough is shortbread , then you need to cut out the number on the rolled out raw dough. Divide the piece of dough into pieces and chill them well in the refrigerator, then place them on parchment paper and roll them out. Now you can cut out the number 1 and then bake it in the oven.
  • When cutting from raw dough , take pieces of dough out of the refrigerator one at a time; there is no need to keep it on the table, since it is easier to cut out a unit from a cold shortbread.

From the leftover dough you can make flowers, hearts, round cookies and then decorate the finished cake with them.

Prepare the cake as follows:

  • Separate the whites of the eggs from the yolks. Place the whites in the refrigerator to cool or in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  • Mix the yolks with butter, orange juice (150 ml), salt and a third of granulated sugar. Place the mixture in a water bath until the sugar crystals dissolve.
  • Remove the yolk mixture from the heat, cool slightly and beat with a mixer until foam forms.
  • Add flour and orange zest.
  • Beat the egg whites with granulated sugar and gently fold into the mixture with the other ingredients.
  • Turn on the oven to warm up to 180 degrees. Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with greased parchment paper. You can use any baking dish, depending on what kind of cake you will have - only in the form of a number or with a letter. Pour the dough into the mold and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  • Cool the finished cake and cut into two layers.

Now make the cream:

  • Grind three yolks with granulated sugar, flour and half the cream. The cream does not need to be refrigerated; it should be at room temperature.
  • Heat the remaining cream over heat to 70-80 degrees. Pour the sweet yolk mixture into the hot cream and stirring constantly, bring to a boil.

Spread the cream on the bottom cake and cover it with the top cake. Leave aside and let the cake soak in the cream. Now let's assemble the cake:

  • Cut out a number and a letter from two folded cake layers, and coat all sides and sections with the remaining cream.
  • Brush the top of the cake with marmalade. You can use any jam, but only thick jam so that it lies in a layer.
  • Prepare the filling as directed on the package. Instead of filling, you can make jelly, for example, from any juice. Dissolve 50 grams of gelatin in a liter of hot juice. After half an hour, heat again, then cool slightly in the refrigerator until the jelly begins to set. After this, pour it onto the cake. What will drain can be easily removed with a kitchen spatula.
  • Place the cake in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours to soak and harden the filling. Then take out the cake and draw an outline with sugar pencils.
  • On top you can put mastic circles with letters and numbers, which are also drawn with a sugar pencil.
