Manna with yogurt recipe for oven and multicooker

Cooking process

If you have unused yogurt, you can use it to create a juicy and aromatic pie - manna. The dessert will turn out not only appetizing and aromatic, but also very satisfying, as it is prepared using semolina, which is how it got its name. I had two types of yogurt available: classic and strawberry of different fat content, but you don’t have to stick to this list - pour in any yogurt, as long as there is 250 ml of it. I just had these ingredients left in the refrigerator and I decided to put them to work.

The most important tip is to soak the semolina in yogurt for at least 40 minutes, or even more! If you reduce the swelling time for semolina, it will settle in a dense lump to the bottom and you will not end up with a baked pie, but, accordingly, a complete transfer of products. And one more thing: you need to bake manna at a low temperature for a long time. Do not increase the temperature under any circumstances, even if you do not have free time! Otherwise, you will end up with a golden-brown pie on all sides, and an unbaked viscous mass inside.

So, prepare the necessary ingredients to prepare manna with yogurt in the oven and let’s start cooking!

Pour yogurt into a deep bowl or salad bowl, add semolina, stir thoroughly and leave to swell for at least 40-60 minutes.

As soon as the specified time has passed, pour salt and granulated sugar into the container and mix thoroughly.

Separately, beat the eggs for about 2-3 minutes.

Pour into a container with semolina mass, stir again.

Add premium wheat flour and baking powder. Stir in without forming lumps. Lastly, pour in the vegetable oil and stir. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

Grease the mold with vegetable oil, pour the prepared dough into it and place in a preheated oven for 40-50 minutes. The baking time for manna directly depends on the diameter of the mold. The wider the pan, the less high the cake will be and the faster it will bake.

Useful tips

Sometimes we do everything according to the recipe, but in the end an unpleasant surprise awaits us: either the cake settles, or is not crumbly enough, and worst of all, it turns out to be a glassy consistency. To ensure that your baking is always a success, follow these simple tips:

  1. To ensure a fluffy pie, use eggs at room temperature;
  2. Beat eggs and sugar vigorously until foam forms. After this, alternately, dosedly mix in the remaining ingredients;
  3. It is recommended to pre-keep the cereal with milk/kefir or yogurt so that it swells. Then the dessert will turn out crumbly;
  4. It is better to take liquid yogurt so that the dough is not very thick and the dish does not turn out dry;
  5. To give manna a non-classical color or additional flavor, it is recommended to use yogurt with natural colored fillings. For example, with wild berries or blueberries;
  6. If you are using a multicooker for cooking and want the semolina pie to be golden brown on both sides, after the sound signal, carefully turn it over and set the “Warming” mode for seven minutes. Then you will get ruddy, beautiful baked goods.
